i wonder if he still doesn't get it?

Post by unklmickey »

hi Guys,

everyone here seems so helpful and polite.
just for giggles, i decided to look at some early posts.
it seems that way back when, y'all were not so wonderful.
when a "legend" named Paul came to visit, no one here gave him the respect he felt he deserved:
https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.ph ... sc&start=0

okay i'll stop now.
if my tongue presses any harder on my cheek, it's likely to break thru!

feel free to thank me for the look back, or tell me to STFU, whichever you think appropriate.

cheers,

unk

why is he a "legend"? And did you read the thread on ampage back then where R.G. was asking about the provenance of some of the Rosk software he kept advertising again and again?

so whatever happened to him? did anyone ever buy his design CDs to see what he was talking about?

I have to admit, his 'attitude' now has me curious about his designs
maybe I'll drop a few bucks on a couple of them to 'see' what his hubbub is all about (if they're still available)

in the meantime, Sgt OD (TubeTramp) and I are going to build a Twreck to 'hear' what that hubbub is all about.....he dyin to have one so, I'm clearin' the bench

Oh. my. goodness.

I honestly don't know what to say. He's the only one who has posted anything on his "forum." Read any one of the 3 articles I linked to. I've never seen so much horse crap in one place. Amazing. How did Guitar Player let him interview. Mind boggeling. Thanks a lot, the internet.

EDIT: I just have to quote this little gem in my post. There are a lot of outrageous statements, but this.....
The GAIN 2 control provides maximum power tube overdrive (over 1000 times the gain of any other tube amplifier)
It's a miracle! Maximum power tube overdrive! I thought I'd never see it in my lifetime... [/quote]

There was a post on another forum a couple of years ago where he offered a service to positive align your caps before building your amp.
If I recall correctly it meant that each cap (straight from the manufacture)
needed to be positive aligned so the electrons would flow in the correct direction otherwise tone would suffer. All this for a mere $120 plus shipping  . From the gist of what he was ranting about it involved little more than the caps receiving a dam good talking to (and spanking if needed) . Everybody knows of course that the caps aren't the problem, it's the electrons themselves that need a good spanking.

There is a lot of important theory that supports disciplined electron behavior in capacitors. Most of those theorists develop them in an oxygen-free environment, which minimizes oxidation _and_ brain activity.

Not to hijack, but along these lines, this is my favorite ad for anything, ever:

http://www.altmann.haan.de/tubeolator/default.htm

Sadly, he's taken it off the market. I was buying drums of it and coating my family and everything in my house, so they would sound more tubey.

Mr. Rosk seems like a legend in his own mind. I'm sure history will keep it that way, too.

i understand Omar. but that pimple could never be as entertaining as Paul Rosk.

ya can't BUY entertainment like THAT!

woohoo!

nice find on the Tubulator, Sharkboy.
prolly just as well he took it off the market. since the package size was 0.5 mL, it would take an awful lotta packages to add up to a drum.

Heh, I remember him....it's amazing how self-absorbed some can become. Wasn't he trying to sell tech help (or something like that) too?
