Quick question out there for all who have experience messing with post tweed fenders. Have any of you heard of using the reverb circut as a gainboost/overdrive? I read somewhere that the mod involves simply disconnecting the reverb pan and replacing it with a resistor (470K, I think), and putting a load resister where the foot switch connects to act as a grid load. The reverb control then acts as a vol control. I also read that you can hook a volume pedal to the foot switch input and with it control the gain of the circut (by either raising the value of the grid load resistor or grounding it, returning the channel to normal).
Now, I read this and thought to myself, "That's pretty cool." Is this old news? Have any of you tried this? With what results?
Also, maybe some of you Dumble historians would know a bit more about this, but this seems suspiciously similar to an ODS overdrive channel (footswitch resistor value = ratio, reverb pot = level. Or is it the other way around?), only transformer coupled, of course. Coincidence? Could this have been an inspiration for the wizard? Silly question, I know, but it made me curious.

I have tried this. Yes it works and gives more overdrive but it is quite a raw sound, very loud and not very musical IMHO. It's biggest asset is that it is non-intrusive to the amp and totally reversible.
