50w opt / 100w pt ?

Post by Andy Le Blanc »

I'm looking a build idea for kt88

the tube sheets favor a 4.5 k opt and a conservative 175ma limit on cathode dissipation
the older sheet say 175ma, the newer sheets say 230ma...

I can get a comfortable 225ma idle current for 2 tubes out of a 450ma twin pt
and most 40-60w fender generics are 4.2k, in the ballpark...

the current limits of both the pt and tube are well respected
but will the opt hold up?

Most important to know is diameters of OT winding wires.
Then calculate max current density not to exceed 2.5A/mm^2
