The komet also has 2 fuse holders where Inger has 1.
Inger looks to still be built on the Bud AC-425 chassis.
We can probably assume the Filter capacitors were glued in a similar fashion as the other TW's. The Komet style board is quicker for mass production and service.
All of these things being different sort of leaves one with doubt that the komet amp's being built or Bree share anything in common with inger other then a name.
It's still possible Inger and Bree aren't the same amp design.

Here is some info on the original amps which were different from each other.

Guess I'm the only wrong one in this thread.
I could have sworn I could see the seam of the bud chassis in one of the pics. It must be the reflection of the wood.
How long until we have a clone army of song writers?

I actually build the Rocket using Aikens pi with the 6sl7 octals throughout the preamp , and an EL 34 output. Tweaked out properly it can't be beat for warmth and chime. Vibratoking has one of them as well.selloutrr wrote:http://www.aikenamps.com/LongTailPairDesign.htm

Very interesting read. I'm not sure why i haven't seen that before. Thanks for the clarification. I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread

no you don't...selloutrr wrote:FYI the images are transparent so if you want them you'll have to copy the screen or print them.
Neat post thanks.
just "view source" and then scan the text for the url of the picture, then copy/paste the url of the pix into the browser. VOILA!! you can download the pix.... it did it with all of them.

Re: "Dongbiter" 30 pics online
So it looks like the power supply is the traditional KF deal. 80uF plates, choke, 40uF screens, and then the last two nodes split off from the screen supply. Is it safe to bet that these two caps under the board are 20uF?
Would it also be safe to assume that the input stage is likely to be center biased? Since it is described as being clean that would be the best way to keep the amp clean. Turn it up and it would overdrive slightly.
Overall the amp is simple, not venturing far from how Ken did a lot of his amps. From the Komet picture the two volume controls are somewhat confusing. Both pots seem like they are variable resistors, and I don't see anything that looks like it would return to ground to make a voltage divider, or am I missing something?
Liverpool phase inverter and feedback?
Not exactly a very exciting amp circuit wise. But it seems like those often produce some of the best amps anyway.

Bass control is another, larger value coupling cap in parallel with a base value silver mica coupling cap. The (presumably 100-250kB) Bass pot is simply varying the magnitude of the total coupling capacitance between stages. Treble control is simply a cut circuit and my guess is that the cap value is probably less than 0.0047uF so it doesn't dip too deeply into the mid frequencies.XgamerGt03 wrote: Both pots seem like they are variable resistors, and I don't see anything that looks like it would return to ground to make a voltage divider, or am I missing something?.

I'm guessing .0047uf/600v OD, 47pf mica and 100k plate.
A 33k/500pf mica between bass pot and volume pot.
A .0047uf/400v on the cut control.

It's good to get a look at this build. Not really any surprise or disappointment here for me except I had hoped to see how they used that octal preamp tube. Does anybody know how they sound?
I don't suppose we can hope for a production DLM too?

not really intrigued by such design. Nothing new under the sun.
The only thing that comes to my mind is: " The less, the better"
Only thing I would like to understand is if "the better" is intended for the sound or the financial part.....

I think you are right on top of a ken Fischer ism... less of the wrong stuff is better.
No it's not really a new idea but it won't stop me from putting one together out of curiosity and also adds a since of completion to my TrainWreck studies.

believe me, there is nothing wrong in building one. Maybe you'll discover it's the amp you are searching for since ages.RJ Guitars wrote:I think you are right on top of a ken Fischer ism... less of the wrong stuff is better.

I'm really thrilled by minimal design in electronics circuits.
Simply here I cannot see nothing original from a technical point of view.
Not even direct coupling between stages.....
And believe me it's not criticism against Ken Fischer , Nor Komet.
It's just that once again i have to say: it's the same old stuff. Could be great and play like nothing else in the world.
But technically speaking, no news under this sky, by now.

Go ahead and build one. I hope that it sounds better than the Komet example that was at the NY show. Flat, one dimensional, and thin is what I heard. This was over both days of the show, many different players and guitars. Nothing to write home about. I was hoping that it would be great, so that was the disappointment in my mind.
