Dumb question?
i see people talking about master volumes. since pre and post both begin with the letter P, is PPIMV a pre PI or post PI master volume? if it's post, then are you talking about something like the matchless type? thanks. jmac
Re: Dumb question?
My experience is that most people mean post PI when they write that acronym but each individual may use it differently. We should be more specific.
There are 3 or 4 differing post PI masters and the crossline Matchless is one of them. Here is a link for the MV section of the trainwreck pages.

I forgot the corresponding text. Here it is:

Also, here is the original DC30 schemo to see the crossline:

Re: Dumb question?
thanks. i've used a couple of the KF variations. i've heard a lot of good comments on the dc30 variety. excellent schematic.
Re: Dumb question?
If I'm not mistaken isn't type 4 a Pre phase inverter type master volume? That one looks pretty much like what is on a Marshall 2203/4.
Re: Dumb question?
Yes, #4 is the basic pot to ground type which is a pre-PIMV.
There are a bunch of people who don't like the crossline style but I have to say, I do. It is easy, you can make it switchable and it sounds good.
