What happens to the tone when the choke is replaced with the resistor ?

I don't have first hand experience with this mod but you can always
do a search here as this has been covered many times already (and
by much more experienced people than myself I might add...)

Apparently, it induces some power supply 'sag' and how much depends
on the value of resistor in the face of your amp's power.
