What OT for my Z-wreck build
Should I go for a VOX type OT, or would a Fender replacement sound good too? The VOX OT's I've seen, usually have only two output impedances, while Fender has three.
What would be a good OT for my build?
And what about PT? Is the Hammond, VOX vintage any good?

I believe a rocket output would be best. Or a dynaco 470 copy. The rocket power transformer would be the best pick.
anything worth doing, is worth doing right

Where do I get one?

rjguitars.net (our "local" supplier of all things Trainwreck, RJ is the man!)
triodestore.com (USA made iron, paper wound and very inexpensive for good quality)
tubesandmore.com (all Hammond stuff, great quality but pricier than other options)
edcorusa.com (RJ carries Edcor stuff, again great quality, looks good and fair pricing)

Re: What OT for my Z-wreck build
triodestore.com has an A470 clone which is what KF used on the real Rockets. From what I've read around here these transformers sound great with a Rocket.

Tdale,
I did a Z wreck build earlier this year and originally used a Toneslut "Experimenters" OT with the 4.3 and 5.2k primaries. It sounded pretty good but opted to go for the A470 Dynaclone from triodstore.
The difference was night and day, The A470 is killer!!! If i was to build a Rocket/Z wreck styled amp again i would go for this OT every time.
Some guys in this forum have used them in 50w Marshall builds as well and swear by them.
The PT to use is the Rocket spec 250/280/0/280/250 @ 300ma. As the Z wreck is pretty much a top boost AC30 circuit, the 280v secondaries for the AC30 ( Speed settings ) and the 250v seondaries for the Rocket ( Comfort settings ).
Last time i looked, RJ did stock these PT's for n120v mains however i noticed that you are in Norway so that will be a problem. RJ does do special orders but only if there is enough interest to order multiple units.
Hope this helps,
Rich

Re: What OT for my Z-wreck build
Thanks! I'll go for the 470 OT, no doubt about that!
I'll have to check for the PT, 120V is a problem... If you ever come up with a different PT you think would be good, feel free to let me know
By the way, how important is the speed/comfort switch? I was planning to go for a PT with about 280-290V on the secondary, and not use the speed/comfort switch. Is that a bad idea?
