What brand/series is this resistor?
Can anyone tell me the maker/type of this resistor? I recognize it and have seen others use them a few times on TAG.
Thanks...

Looks like a 1W 2% Dale MF, you will see them in 10% as well. Most of the ones I have were branded as RCA. However; they were rebranded as NTE, Sylvania and Phillips. Corning Glass made to some very similar to this and the more I look at it almost looks like Corning because of the depth of gold in the tol. band, maybe it's the glare.

Any similar looking ones available from mouser?
Re: What brand/series is this resistor?
Mouser stocks a few values in the Dale FP1 series 10% tol., which will be the closest in type, although the end caps aren't quite as big as the older stuff.ChrisM wrote:Any similar looking ones available from mouser?

Ok thanks, found those on Mouser.
I thought they were 2W. Any 2W ones of a similar make/style?

Re: What brand/series is this resistor?
I was making a guess without any known reference next to it, while looking at my stash. Sometimes with the prespective of zoomed in pics it's hard to tell. If you have the physical dimensions I can tell you if it's a 2W or not. If you want the 2W, they are the FP2.
Re: What brand/series is this resistor?
Cool, compared the data sheet to the ones I have. Look like they are 2W.
I'm going to try them out next time I order. They look similar to the ones I have in the picture but not exact. Must be out of production like you eluded to.

Re: What brand/series is this resistor?
looks like a vishay fp2? specced at 70 Celsius for 2 watts.

is the glaze on the outside shiny or dull looking?
they look like fp32s - 4 band.
the only other thing that looks like that is the wirewounds.
if it's not shiny it's probably a flame proof.

Not shiny, more dull looking. I think it is the FP2.
Whats the FP32?
I do think it might be a wire wound though. Looking at the side I can see gold ends and tiny little holes. I dunno seems like it might be WW.

Re: What brand/series is this resistor?
well the fp2 is a outside printed labeling and the fp32 comes in a 4/5 band.
where was the resistor? in the power supply?

Ah ok, thanks!
Ya from a PSU, I forget which though. Just grabbed it at the shop I'm at. Looked neat and I'd seen them used before.

Re: What brand/series is this resistor?
It could be a CA002.
I don't think I've seen a CW or an RW in a 4/5 band.
The resistor can't be that old. I've got a few that look like it, none of the radio shack or nte ones I have have the end caps.

those also look like they have the proper sized end caps. It's definitely not a cmf/rn series.

Re: What brand/series is this resistor?
Look like NTE,ECG,or RCA to me.Most of those look very much alike. I've used many that look like that. They use to come in the rack packs 2 in a pack for the bigger wattage ones. The link shows some lower wattage type, but similar along those lines.

philips are all blue, sylvanias are all green.
Re: What brand/series is this resistor?
I have bought some just like that before that were NTE packaged.
I don't know the original manufacturer though.
