Four Button Footswitch
Is there a four button footswitch at a reasonable price or will I have to build my own? I would like to have brite, OD, PAB and mid boost on my next build.
Re: Four Button Footswitch
You can bolt 2 Marshall replacement 2 button boxes together or you can adapt a Marshall replacement 3 button from tubesandmore.com to a 4 button, just drill another 2 holes for the switch and the LED on the top and add a MIDI jack to the front. - here's an example layout:

4 button box
I think you may find Weber sells a 4 button box. Just the box. I have no idea what the quality is like but it may be worth a look. Alternativly get a local sheet metal worker to duplicate one for you.

Speaking of Weber and not to derail but I hear Weber just discontinued all cabinets..

There has been a steady stream of surplus Ibanez 4-button boxes on EBay really cheap. They have LEDs and DPDT switches. sh

The 1590DD is ~7" on the inside. That doesn't give you much room between switches unless you do it like that Ibanez, where they're not four in line.

Re: Four Button Footswitch
I forgot about NOR/FET switch! Now I need a 5-button switch. Not sure if I can get five relay boards in the chassis, will have to do some measuring!
I guess I can put a 3 and a 2 together. Maybe I should just build a new one in a diecast box, with Carling switches, and have done with it.

Problem is you won't find a diecast box big enough for 5 buttons (I looked). I have been looking for an alternative for several weeks. You will need a box length of about 340mm with switch spacing of 70mm.David Root wrote:I forgot about NOR/FET switch! Now I need a 5-button switch. For a one off project, you can always buy the Marshall 5 button box and modify it to you needs. They are pricey, but it is an alternative.
Right now I am soliciting fabrication bids for 5 button boxes for my SOD II's. Suspect that I will have to pay out the a$$ for a local shop or buy a 1000 of them and I get them out of Asia.....

Re: Four Button Footswitch
I was afraid of that. I could drop the brite footswitch but then you don't really want brite on in OD mode.
I can get five relay boards in the chassis in the right place so I would like to do five. I found a cheap 5 button switch on EBay, $24.95 but no LEDs, that might be worth a try, just drill LED holes, repaint it and rewire it. Fabricated, not diecast.

...which is why my bright relay is piggybacked to the OD relay and shuts off in OD mode. Would that get you back to 4 switches?David Root wrote:I was afraid of that. I could drop the brite footswitch but then you don't really want brite on in OD mode.

Re: Four Button Footswitch
Maybe. I seem to recall something about that now that you mention it. Gary, is there any potential downside to that? What are the functions of your five buttons, if that's not a State Secret.
Re: Four Button Footswitch
What about this as an option?
