Figured Bubinga Head Cabinet

I recently completed a figured Bubinga head cab and wanted to share the results..
A 2" thick piece of Bubinga was resawn so the top and bottom were bookmatched showing off the Sapwood.
The pictures really don't do this cabinet justice but I can assure you it is absolutely stunning in person.

that's quite a statement.

although the lighting is a bit dim, it looks amazing on my screen.

i'm enthralled by the way the oscillations give the illusions of waves in the surface.

aesthetically stimulating, and vertigo inducing, both at the same time.

Can you tell me, how have you done those finger joints? Do you have any picture of your jig? My friend has a nice workshop, but said, that he doesn't know how to create joints like that...

And how did you finish (laquier?) your cabinet?

The cabinet really did turn out exceptionally well. But I have to say working with one of the nicest pieces of Bubinga I have ever seen helped quite a bit..

Regarding the jig, I use a 24" Incra dovetail setup. It is very flexible and can consistently reproduce perfect dovetails. I prefer to build half blind dovetails but the Incra can do them all. The finish is seven or eight coats of lacquer.
I have to say this was one of the most fun cabinets I have done so far.
It is on the way to its new owner and I hope he enjoys it as much as I did..
There is no doubt it is a one of a kind piece..

Marko, I used an industrial grade "Water Clear" lacquer on this cabinet applied with a spray gun.
