Some posting statistics

Post by Tdale »

I looked at the memberlist today, and sorted it by number of posts. Kind of fun to see the results.

The 10 most active posters have posted about 4800 posts. That's more than 30% of the total number of posts.

There are close to 2000 members on the forum now, and those 10 top-posters, is only 0.5% of the total number of members.

The top poster is just about to post his posting nr. 1000! Not bad.

I'm in a healthy 6. place :)

I'm #7. I would like to think that it's not the number of posts that count but the quality of the post that matters. Maybe we need a quality rating system so we can rate each post. 8)

we've had some similar discussions about post counts vs quality over at GuitarNuts2.

personally i wouldn't get too hung up on the competitive nature of things.

ratings aren't important.

it's what you get from (and provide to) the discussion that matters.

and you can't quantify that.

people with high post counts might the most valuable resources in a forum. or they might just be clutter makers.

the only thing you can tell from a persons post count is.................how many posts they've made.

as you spend more time with the individuals in a group, you get to know each one's particular strengths.

then you can really know where to turn for help.

on the other side of the same coin, some truly amazing ideas have come from unexpected sources.

BTW, thanks Normster, i looked up Pareto's Law. that 80 : 20 theory seems like an interesting thing to watch for.

I don't think any of us take post count very seriously. Just trying to yank Bob's chain.

However, in looking at my post count, I now know why I haven't finished those last two amps yet.
