Cathode Resistor, sets the output tube bias.

If this was the cathode resistor it's too big, and will be biasing your tubes cold. Cold cathode bais amps suck... IMHO

However I am confident it is not the cathode resistor, but you would be better asking what the fault was.. I think you have a right to know.

My bet is still on the screen supply.

Yeah I'm thinking screen now too. I thought the tt was a SE which is why I said cathode.

the regular chinese production Tiny Terror is a circuit board amp. The Tiny Terror Hard Wired version is a point to point hand wired amp made in the UK.

What does SE amp mean....?

Yes, I'm going to get the dealer to follow up and get a description of what exactly was done.

So does point to point mean it is not SE and that it can't be a cathode bias resistor?

It's a big ass bloody screen resistor! So you've got a 2-3W metal oxide on one side and this monster on the other.

Single ended means an amp that has only one power tube (pentode or triode). Push-pull amps have pairs of power tubes.

SE and PP amps can both be point-to-point wired.

Actually, SE amps can have multiple power tubes as well. I think of it more as no primary CT for the OT.

Ok. Thanks. I'll stop annoying you guys. I think I should stick to a non builder forum. It was good to hear your thought though as you guys seem to know what you are talking about more than your average amp guy - me -....

It sounds like tone isn't compromised and this is a good repair. i'll sleep easier.

Thanks again
