Guys - I recently spotted a very old amp identified by its vendor as an Ampeg, but the logo is worn off the faceplate. It' a 2x12 combo with a single PT in the middle and working outwards to both left and right, tube rectifiers, complete power amps and at the outside two OTs all in the bottom of the cab. Then in the top of the cab, the preamp chassis has the knobs facing front and tubes facing back (horizontal, all noval).
The left input and preamp is labeled 'Bass' and the input near the middle is labeled 'Accordion, Guitar, General Purpose' (should have taken photos).
The description sort-of matches the Ampeg Echo Twin (ET1 and ET2), but all the photos I've seen are more of a Tweed format chassis and cabinet (knobs on top, tubes down, single chassis).
The Googles haven't been much help, so I'm bothering y'all. Does this setup sound familiar to anyone? Got schematic and/or photo links?
Thanks!

Re: Very old Ampeg model?
Gemini or B series probably..
The accordian input is a dead give away it's Ampeg.

Re: Very old Ampeg model?
Take a look on Schematic Heaven, there are dozens of Ampeg schematics there, something like you describe woulld be very obvious in a schematic.
Re: Very old Ampeg model?
The only Ampeg 2x12 combo's I'm familiar with are
the Reverbrocket
Gemini II
B-12xt
The last 2 have an accordian input on the first versions.
what exactly do you mean by tweed?

Re: Very old Ampeg model?
Constructed in the style of a 5F6A or 5F2 (or Pro Jr or Blues Jr or HRDeluxe) - chassis vertical at the rear of the cabinet, knobs on top, tubes on the bottom.selloutrr wrote:what exactly do you mean by tweed?
I make this judgement from a front- or top-view photo of the EchoTwin that has the control panel at the top rear of the cab. The layout may be a vox style, with knobs on top and tubes horizontal in the space above the speakers, but it's hard to tell.
Thanks, by the way.
... and schematic heaven is down, as far as I can tell.
Re: Very old Ampeg model?
I have an old Gemini II and it does not match this description. Gemini II had 1 X 15 Jensen. It's also not a top loader. Does have Accordion inputs though. Ampeg used to be pretty good about gluing schematics into the boxes somewhere. No documentation glued in it anywhere?

Split chassis + accordion = Sano or Excelsior
What did the grill cloth look like?
Tolex or tweed, very earl;y Ampegs were tweed or leatherette then straight to checker board vinal / tolex

Black tolex (maybe leatherette?), don't recall grillcloth. Would be surprised if either were original.
Re: Very old Ampeg model?
The box and covering are pretty beat up. The opening around the preamp tubes is a long oval not much taller than a 12xx7 tube is thick.crbowman wrote:I have an old Gemini II and it does not match this description. I need to get back to that shop and take some photos. May try bartering some Jukebox work (Seeburg 160D that scans a few times and gives up, but never grabs the requested record) for the thing.
