M Fowler wrote:I put this amp together this weekend based off Normster's 16x8x2 layout basic D'lite amp I think.

Do not look to close it was engineered, holes drilled as I was building.

This is a custom rjguitar aluminum Princeton chassis. I decided to go with Mojo's Heyboer Marshall tranny set so I can see if I want to go with EL34's. I prefer 6L6 but well see when I get to tweaking.

I can see why you guys love these Dumble type amps. I probably should have increased the main filter caps to 100uf and can at some time. Played it through my bench cab 1-12 so tomorrow I'll try the 412.

Edited my poor English
Mark,
which marshall set did you choose?

Heyboer from mojo, Marshall JCM 800, just incase I wanted to use EL34's and they are standup mount. If I had been using a CE chassis I would have gone differently.

Triode also has Magnetic Components sets that work well.

Cool thanks Mark. I have a couple blank 16x8 chassis only with an IEC cut so I'd want a stand up too. No sense in cutting a big square in that thing.

I think I might do this build. It would be a good first step into Dumble building territory and looks pretty straight forward. I've got plans to do a 124 but I think a stepping stone could help me.

Normsters layouts are the best...my Normster rocket reverb continues to blow my mind.

Are all you guys using drill presses to drill out holes? I have a step bit that works fantastic but my hand drill is a little inconsistent for the pots and switches. I think I might grab one, its supposed to be one of the best tools to have in your wood shop too, next to a table saw and router.

Taylor I got my feet wet in the Dumble circuit with a D'lite 44 kit several years ago.

I learned a lot on that amp and I have it sounding pretty good with two Winged C 6L6GC's.

This tweaked circuit incorporates just about all the recommended tweaks that we discuss here.

would that tweaked circuit work with a 6v6 lite or only the 6l6 version?

Well it is geared towards 6L6 but you can tweak that.

Areas that might need attention:
Tone stack
NFB resistor
Presence

BTW, I ended up taking that OD entrance mod (.05 cap and 10M resistor) out.
I went in a big circle with this amp and mostly ended back at the 101 ODS schematic.

I tried the search function but didn't help.

What are you using for nice straight buss bar material?

Mark,

I've used a couple of things. A piece of 14awg copper from a left over chunk of Romex works good. After a while it will start to oxidize and gets hard to solder to...

Lately I've been using 18awg "Tinned Copper Busswire" I bought from Mojo a while back. I fold a chunk in half and chuck it in the drill.....works well and looks cool too. 8)

I thought on a post a while back some one mentioned what they used long straight rods and where they get it, now I can't find it using search.

I have material on hand but to get a long straight piece is not easy, I think I will check the local welding shop for long small diameter rods that can be solder to.

I recall people using small brass rods available at most hardware and hobby stores.

Thanks I'll see if I can find that, don't recall any at the hardware stores but I'll try Hobby Hut.

I wonder if electrical wire for the house could be used as buss wire or is it to thick and oversized. I think 16 AWG is the size i have lying around in the garage.

Nice build Mark!
