I've already contacted a few of you that indicated your location in your profile, any others?
I am in Montreal. So far I've only built a Wreck (made from various parts), a High Octane, a Firefly/MiniBlues and a few other smaller projects.
I'm fighting the build obsession too, but keep coming back to the boards for a fix. (Not sure how long I will be able to keep from starting another LOL).
It would certainly be fun to meet up with others in the local area.
I'm in St.John's, Newfoundland. A whole lot of miles between me and you guys but if you're ever out my way look me up. So far I've done a DR, a JTM45, 18W, AC30TB, ReVibe, a couple of Champs and Princetons. Fav. so far is that AC30TB. Got the stuff for a T'wreck just trying to find the time!
That would be cool, MSS! Tell me, which one of your builds you prefer? Any good source for parts in Montreal?
SootB, I was planning a trip to NF last summer but finally decided for Nova Scotia, in the Cape Breton area. That is the closest I have been to St-John. Pardon my ignorance but what does DR means in your list?

Though I like them all (each has a very different sound and personality) everyone just has to have a Wreck! It is just so "in yuor face" and oozing with interaction. I don't get nearly enough time to work on them and still have a lot more work to get them to where I want the sound to be.
I can get Hammond xformers from a local dealer for a decent price. There are not many other places to get components and I have had to order most stuff in from the US. Ebay can alos be a source if you are looking for some components, but the amp builders are like sharks waiting for the good deals...
I have bought a couple of transfo from Active but I am not too impressed by their prices and general service. But if you can buy onsite, it may be a different story. I now favor http://www.partsconnexion.com/ for Hammond transfo since I have to order all my parts anyway.
I have found many sources in Canada but most of what I need comes from the States. It is not too bad as long as you avoid UPS!
which local dealer in Montreal has hammonds? The only one that I know is active ( http://www.active123.com ). Is that the one?
BTW, I'm in Montreal also.
Thanks,
Stephane.
Hey Stephane,
What part of town are you in?
I got my Hammond transformers and chassis parts from Rush Electronics on Hymus, in Kirkland. It is a commercial supply place that (so far) did not seem to mind doing small orders too. They order straight from Hammond on demand and get their stuff once or twice a week, so its pretty quick. I am nearby so I just pick the stuff up to avoid shipping fees.
The Hammond stuff is made in Canada, so it's nice to avoid the customs and shipping costs, getting them from a US retailer...
