Triode TW kits???

Post by M Fowler »

I was capacitor hunting for 270pf ceramic type and I saw TW chassis coming soon and then I read TW kit coming soon.

It will be interesting to see what they offer and how MC builds it's TW transformers.

should be easy for them---they're right there in the heart of stancor land and probably have the old winding patterns on file already, or if not know how to get them. rh

Are their transformers good? They are about an hour from me, so it makes more sense for me to just pay (10%!!) sales tax than to pay shipping *and* sales tax.

I have a few projects lined up already, but I promised myself I'd build another Express before year end (or that Xits if that layout gets nailed down)

Depends on who you ask. I for one have had excellent results using MC in Marshall JCM 800 2204 build, Twin Reverb, SuperReverb, and custom designed amps.

Some say they run too warm but I don't find that and so what if they run a little warm in some applications.

It will be interesting to see their TW iron.

I've had great results using there dynaco outputs and was wondering why they didn't make wreck transformers.

I pretty sure they have been board lurking here. I know MC has a guy thats been on Metro's forum in recent months. Maybe I'll ask him to join here as well.

Woah, interesting. I have used their OT iron - 8 pieces various - and one PT. You know, I think they absolutely embarrass MM. They are old school and, man, at a great great price! I would urge anyone to try one - any of the ones they make. 8)

I too have had great results with their transformers. I have a JTM50 based build with a set going now, and two other diferent projects scheduled after that. I'd love to try their TW iron for my rocket build. Good product, good folks - just wish I could get a dealer account as I do with other companies!

Triode adjusts 5% for dealer. MC has a program but you have to buy quanity.

I will continue to support rjguitar and allynmey for TW parts I just found it interesting that they are coming out with TW stuff.

Mojo has TW trannies as well and Supro power trans but not the OT

Where as Triode has the Supro OT and no PT?

Turretboards.com has a Supro tranny set.

I have built their Fender Reverb kit and it sounds pretty great. On a secret note, I just built a 6V6 TW Express with an old Hammond M3 organ PT with VVR and a Triode Magnetic Components Deluxe Reverb OT 6.6k primary($29!!!). Sounds amazing! I'll post my build when I'm done tweaking it.
