Mesa Mk. II as a donor?

I read recently on the general discussion page that the Mk III stages are similar, and they have big iron, and many came with EV12's...

I have a '79 Mk II A. that is a so-so amp in my opinion, and can fetch maybe 500 on the used market...

Any opinions or thoughts on using the Mesa Mark IIA as a donor for ods type project?
