Agreed.There is some pretty good attention to detail in the build though. I like how it is point to point.

Everyone goes with the Hot Cat not knowing that the Lynx actually has more gain and a way better clean channel. No loop though, which kinda stinks because it doesn't take pedals well...

The gain channel I dont really care for. Its just overkill for my style. It has too much compression and saturation.

I think you just answered why the BadCat is more popular.

I just a/b'd the lynx with my rocket. Similar cleans although a bit different with el34s vs the el84s. More bass with the rocket but a little more punch with the lynx. If only I could have it all

Sounds like you need an octal Rocket (look for threads regarding the "Rockster")- a build with KT66s is pretty sweet, or you may prefer EL34s. Add a mid knob and you do have it all. The octal Rocket is especially pedal friendly.

I like this idea a lot....the El34's would give some nice punch to the rocket tone. I don't know much about KT66's other than that they look really cool.


I had the Hot Cat 30R before the Lynx. And the Lynx overdrive is very similar, with more control. The Hot Cat was too much gain for my style too.
