Humbucking Reverb Pan

Has anyone ever experimented with a humbucking reverb pan return coil, like for an accutronics pan, something i think waaay overdue ?

This sounds awesome. How do you do it? Shield a spring? Im down the hum from the accurtronix is no good

S'pose you could use a regular reverb tank, send your signal into the input, and, instead of using the output transducer built into the tank, figure out a way to mount a spare humbucker under the springs and send its signal back into the amp. Probably need to adjust the gain, and the mechanics of mounting the HB would be something to figure out, but it should work, in theory. You could even position the HB for the tone you want - just like the pickup positions on a guitar.

No, what you need is an identical return coil, unwind it, then wind it backwards, and then wire it in series with the return coil in your pan, and glue it somewhere in proximity to the original-- that should cancel a lot of the hum

Sounds very fiddly... An alternative would be to use a couple of opamps and build a balanced input amplifier to go between the tank and the recovery tube.

what u r going for here is passive , no add'l parts needed, no extra wiring, if you've ever installed a dummy coil in a single coil guitar--it works rather well. the hum is electromagnetic spill from the power xformer that the reverb return coil picks up. it basically works like a guitar pickup. you will have that hum no matter what you do. no amount of shielding will fix it. i plan to try this when i get a minute
