Two Rock ELI2 "dumbulator" question

Post by TONYBETANCOURT »

The manual for the Stereo ELI2 has a single (TO EFFECT) Output that goes into the Effects Loop. But then has Both Sides of the Effects output going out. The first back to the Two Rock. The Second to the Return of another Amp.

How does a single L(mono) output to a Stereo Effects Loop (i,e, needs 2 input signals) Return a "Stereo" (i.e. Both L(mono) and R(Stereo)) Output ?

I have a Two Rock Classic 3 and it's amazing

Usually most rack effect have ((Stereo Outputs)) & ((Stereo Inputs)).

In the case of the Two Rock Eli2 you take the signal from the Preamp of your choice, the signal input goes through the send buffer to the (MONO) input of the effect. The effect then gets split into 2 ((Stereo Outputs)). The ((Stereo)) Output of the Effect then goes in to the Left and Right Returns of the Eli2 (labeled "from Effect") into the return buffer inside of the Eli2 then out to 2 Stereo Outputs to the Power amp's of your choice giving you full ((Stereo)) operation.

Most effects convert the (Mono) signal in to ((Stereo)).

If your effect unit has ((Stereo Inputs)) then you can run a Y cable from the Send (labeled "To effect") to the Left and Right inputs of your effect, this way is however not necessary to achieve FSO (Full Stereo Operation).

Hope this helps.

Good Answer ! & Thank you

It had to be either a Y cable
or a device that took in a Single Mono Input
and returned a Stereo (Double) Output

Thanks !

Nah it should be fine. Although I think you'll glean better results using it in front of the input of the amp.

cool. the person who told be about the
potential wah pedal issue said to send it
to Analog Mike and have him straighten
out the pedal real bypass etc etc.. it's just a
$69 cry baby noisy as heck but tolerable
inside the loop. My friend was outraged
and recommended I send it to Mike.
Which I will, it was the danger factor

(it will (harm) the ELI2)

I was just checking ;)

it's in a box going out tomorrow

Yes, a wah works best into the front end.

With Crybaby's they are not true bypass so it kills your signal when off.
Best to either have it bypassed or get a better wah.

I recently bought a Ernie Ball wah. True bypass, blah blah.

It uses a different system to move the pot and the pot is very quiet.
If you have seen their volume pedals this uses the same string and pulley system which seems to work very well.

My Crybaby out of the box had a noisy pot which I replaced shortly after with a Hotpotz and it got noisy within a couple months of light use.

The EB pedal is not as radical of a wah range as the Crybaby but sounds really good just the same.

Don't let that smoke out!

The only thing about them damn Ernie ball pedals is the string LOL :D I've broke and repaired soo many I've givin up using a volume pedal all together, Robben Ford must go through them like hot cakes. Great pedal when they are working though.
