weber Dclone kit

Post by yeahyeah »

Anyone looked at the halle' kit weber has? i just went through the schem and it is VERY close to a 90s D.

i've only built one amp, but i'm waiting for this thing to be released!

I haven't heard one, but there are some significant differences in the circuit. It will be interesting to hear if Ted has managed to get Dumble tone from the circuit.

what are the biggest differences?

i'm sure it would be easy to make more D like.

There are several differences. I'll look over the schematic and layout and see what I can find later.

One of the biggest differences is that the post overdrive tonestack. On a true Dumble this should be trim pots, set and forget. On the Halle they're on the front panel. Not a big deal. Some of the other changes are things like component values that are easy to change.

I think it's pretty cool actually. You could most likely make a decent Dumble clone from it.

yeah the values are slightly different, but just looking at the schem and ignoring the values its close enough to a Dumble for me! parts values can easily be changed, i like the idea of having a kit for something, as i'm not too good at sourcing random things that are specific to tube amps like tube sockets, eyelet board, chassis, cabinet, etc.

it doesnt have the crazy tone switches, but the stack looks the same. i like the OD tone stack on the outside... all though i wouldn't really change it much after setting it.

I think its a pretty good value for a beginer like myself too. The one amp i've built has already cost 600 and its still not in a cabinet or anything... and its not that great sounding. ouch...

i like the idea of getting everything i need from one place and then part substitutions from mouser.

It really does save a ton of work.
it doesnt have the crazy tone switches,\
Personally I'd add the PAB at the very least. A simple push pull pot would do the trick.

I agree. Use the ODS101 schematics to get the right values and schem mods and you'll have a decent amp.

yeah i was planning on getting some of the tone switches sqeezed in somewhere (i build a pedal with 6 knobs and 3 switches in a bb sized box so i can work in small spaces)

total noob question but what is the PAB?

and where can i find the dumble 101 schem? (dumble files obviously but could i get a link?)

Push pull pot would be my choice.

Pre Amp Boost. It's a switch that disables the tone stack and allows more gain.

Just search the forum for ampman1961.
