Blues Junior Input jack beauty ring
Hey guys
I have orig tweed blues junior (94-95 I think). I am 99% certain it had a white ring around the input jack. It is gone! Any one know where to get one. I can not even find one with google except for one guy saying he has seen two amps with it missing:
Looks like the Fender Part Number is 037036, which I can not find either
http://www.docstoc.com/docs/49637665/BL ... ICE-MANUAL
A parts place had Fender pc mount input jacks, but mojo has 4 pin and 9 Fender mount jacks, any one know which is the correct one just for info:
http://www.mojotone.com/amp-parts/Jacks
Also, the Fender mojo jacks do not have the plastic ring. I think it is called the beauty ring:
http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... =13&t=1012
Jack itself is tight, not cracked and working. Right now I would just like to have the little ring that fits around the jack.
Any one have a source on said rings?

Re: Blues Junior Input jack beauty ring
Do you mean the little metal ring around the inside of the jack hole? I've only ever seen silver, not white. It looks like the Mojo jacks have those.
Since it's a straight mono jack, the four-pin one should be right. But unless you're having trouble with the jack, you don't want to replace it -- major PITA. Just pry the silver ring out of the new jack and stick it in the old one with a drop of glue. In fact, if it is that little silver thingy you're talking about, I'm sure I have a dead jack lying around. You can have the silver thing.
If you're talking about is a white beauty washer (again, I've only seen silver) get a piece of white plastic and cut/drill one. Outside diameter: .709. Inside diameter: .482.

Yea..I am talking about beauty washer. I could have sworn it was a white/bone color. It has been a while since I had amp uncovered, and even longer since I looked for the washer. If memory serves me correctly, it has popped off a couple times.
I would gladly buy if they sell them some where. I do not have the tools to make my own.
Since it seems a common problem, it seems like someone would sell the darn things?

I think what they're talking about over at Fender.com is the ring on the inside of the jack hole. When that pops out, the cable plug can wiggle around in the jack and make bad contact. The washer (silver, bone, whatever) is under the jack mounting nut. Can't exactly unscrew itself and walk off. Are you saying you still have the nut but no washer under it?

No Firestorm This is just for looks, maybe extra support.
Maybe I am going crazy, but I thought it has a little plastic spacer/washer that fit over the jack (maybe 1/8"-1/4" high)(where it protrudes out of top of amp, just to make it look better then the black plastic part of plastic input jack sticking up and also showed in the mojotone link.
It works fine as is, not loose, not cracked, nice and snug.
Any Blues Junior owners chime in, as I could have sworn it had a little white colored spacer "around" input jack.
This was the orig tweed like 94-95, I have heard whey upgraded the input jacks later in years. I DO NOT Have the tweed NOS. This was Made in USA and just tweed, no lacquer over the tweed like the new ones. I think the very first Blues Juniors came out in tweed??? (I am asking)? I am pretty sure I got the BJ when first released?

Re: Blues Junior Input jack beauty ring
He's right....it DOES add support without which the jack becomes intermittent if the plug gets moved a bit. Trust me....i've repaired a boatload of those and a number of them had that ring missing. Why yours has no issue w/o it is beyond me because every one i've come across with the ring missing was intermittent to one degree or another, usually pretty bad. It IS metal too, not white. At least i've never seen one with a white plastic ring in place of the usual metal. The jacks by the way are the 4 pin, but the 9 can be used too by simply cutting off the un-needed pins. I've done that many time.
Re: Blues Junior Input jack beauty ring
Wild. My BJr has the silver ring inside the jack, but never had anything around it. Newer version I suspect.

johnny
Probably because the ring has been there for most of the amp's life. I just noticed it missing..(again). Also, I tend to be very careful when putting jack in or out of that amp...for that very reason, and I rarely play it. When I do play it I am in a home setting also. Amp is that old, looks as good as a brand new one.
Firestorm/Johnny, any ideas where one of these rings can be found?
Thanks

Guys, I just am not sure why I said white, it could have been any color, but it did "feel" like plastic. My memory is just terrible.
Amp looks to be 1994 S/N LOT-T-0944559

Re: Blues Junior Input jack beauty ring
I have a feeling that specific type of type of jack has been out of production a long time. I have some Fender-branded stereo jacks (for channel switching models) that date from the late '90s and by then they already don't have the collar around the jack "neck." If you ever locate one of your type it will be blind luck. I'd just wait until the jack needs replacing and go with the improved style. Sorry I don't have a better thought.

Firestorm I believe you are correct. Called fender and my part number no longer valid, it has changed to 0990912000,
Can any one point me to the link to replace the current input jack to a switchcraft 12a, as I read where they bypass the lands on pc and go direct to a certain location on pc board.
Thanks for the responses

If it's not cutting out or anything, whats the problem? if it works it doesn't matter. but if you just must have it buy the 4 pin in that link you posted and either replace the jack of break the threaded area the ring is in on the new one to get the ring out and put it in the old jack. But again, if yours works fine i don't see any reason to bother.

Re: Blues Junior Input jack beauty ring
There is not a problem.
I just figured if they still made the part I need, I would buy it.
I think the switchcraft part would be a good mod to make.
Please post a link if any one has done it before.

Re: Blues Junior Input jack beauty ring
johnny, yea that looks like the correct replacement part. That should be or similar to fender part number 0990912000.
I also refer to a mod to put a switchcraft input jack in place of the 0990912000. Guy explained it by putting a piece of coaxial from switchcraft jack, bypass the lead in from the pc board, connecting closer to the items to be connected, improving noise levels a tad....I did not bookmark the forum (I thought I did but somehow did not).
The BLIM mods, he mentions on all green boards (which I have), he also replaces the input jack on the blues junior. What make/type jack or how he does it I have not see yet. I assume he is trying to improve the amp, so I bet it is a switchcraft or better input jack.
If I was going to the trouble of replacing the input jack, I think I would rather go with the switchcraft mod (if they even call it a mod).
That amp I have now is fine, but one trip over the guitar cord and I fell the plastic part of the input jack would be gone.
