No problems here. Max seems a bit, ummm, shall I say obsessed with my opinions? Thats cool with me though. I guess he realizes what a great ear I have, and wants to take advantage of it. Good for him!

Hi Mr Dumble,

So do I understand this right that your opinion is this:

All the 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation "pre-classic" Dumble ODS amps and all the 6th generation skyline or bluesmaster HRM Dumble ODS amps that you know from personal experience or from records sound worse in regard to "overall quality of tone" than your Quinn TKT 183 6L6

but

most of the transition generation and 4th generation "classic" Dumble ODS amps, classic to skyline transition generation Dumble ODS amps, and 5th generation "skyline" Dumble ODS amps built between 79/80 (the first ODS amps with "classic" specs) to the very early 90s you know from personal experience or from records "sound as good as" your TKT 183 6L6 in regard to "overall quality of tone"?

Is this your opinion?

Cheers,

Max

No Max.
My old #183 Dumble and its clone sound as good as any Dumble I have heard or played. For MY taste, and certain specific qualitys I like the most in some Dumbles, it seems so far that the new 6L6 version even exceeds those. That includes the phasey, straining and almost human vocal like sounds I dig. If you would like to discuss this in detail, feel free to PM me and I will send you my phone number. Lets keep it off this thread. :)

Hi Mr Dumble,

I did already understand hat this is your opinion - at least concerning the Dumble ODS amps.

What I'm still not completely sure about is what precisely you mean when you write "old" Dumble ODS amps in some of your posts in this thread:

As far as I did understand you right up to now you think that your TKT 183 6L6 sounds "WAY better" than all the "old" Dumble ODS amps and "better" than the skyline and bluesmaster HRM ODS amps.

And if I further got you right up to now,

then by "old" you mean only the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation ODS amps from #001 up to around #070 with the "pre-classic" circuit specs,

but not the transition generation and 4th generation ODS amps from around #070 up to around #140/150 with the "classic" circuit specs.

So did I understand this right up to now that you think that your TKT 183 6L6 sounds

- "WAY better" than the "pre-classic" ODS amps between #001 and around #070 you know or have heard

- "better" than the skyline and bluesmaster HRM ODS amps starting around #200 you know or have heard

- "as good as" most of the "classic" and "skyline" ODS amps between around #070 and around #200 you know and have heard

Is this correct?

And do I understand this right, that now, after playing your TKT 183 6L6 for some days, your impression is that in the end it may turn out that it sounds even better than every Dumble ODS amp and clone you have ever played or heard?

Is this correct, too?

Cheers,

Max

hmm...I didn't like the clips either, whereas I like the stock TKT183 with the EL-34 output. Maybe another audio clip with A/B on the two?

(I'm sitting on a set of parts that are almost complete, but I've got the Fender OT, not a Marshall.)

Hi Mr Dumble,
Hello again Max!

What I'm still not completely sure about is what precisely you mean when you write "old" Dumble ODS amps in some of your posts in this thread:

Go back and reread.

As far as I did understand you right up to now you think that your TKT 183 6L6 sounds "WAY better" than all the "old" Dumble ODS amps and "better" than the skyline and bluesmaster HRM ODS amps.

As of right now, I believe its the best sounding amp I have ever played. Give me some more time with it to be sure.

Show me where Dumble breaks down and calls his amps by these names, and I will try to clarify it for you. :D

See above. As of now, you can include every amp ever made in that group as well.

See above again.

Once again I will kindly ask you to PM me, and I will gladly send you my # so we can take this up in person. You seem to have ignored my last request. Dont worry, I dont bite!

Here is the comparison clip. First is the 6L6, then a break, and then the EL34 comes in.

You just can't resist inserting your foot. You have a gift for undermining your own credibility which causes me to disregard your clips and your opinions about them.

Hey Vibro.....If you cant take someone joking around even at that most basic level, I have no idea how you get through life. I try and laugh as much as possible. You should try it sometime! :) Even after I put a wink after it, you STILL took it seriously?? :?: That is very hard for me to believe. EXAMPLE: Many times I will design and install a complete new Landscape for a client. When I am done, the owner may say something along the lines of, That looks GREAT! Almost as good as if I did it myself! Now being the person I am, i laugh at it, and maybe even go along with it. My other option would be to say, this guy is a real ass, and totally full of himself. To ME, it would be totally clear he was kidding around, but of course, thats just me.
