Thanks, Phil. Not quite done yet, but I think we've got it pretty well figured out now, and thanks for the help!

You want to know more about the tube structures? I suggest you look for a copy of RC-30 in pdf to download. I am posting a link because it helps to know where to look and this is a gold mine. The first few pages of RC-30 should answer your question.

Thank you to both of you to get me to this point. Today I found this link, http://www.regiscoyne.com/tech/preamp_mods/, that discusses a bit more of what we/I have been doing with the amp tubes. This process of repairing the old Gibson is not a shot in the pants, one time deal. I am very interested in developing my understanding of electronics and amplifiers. My goal is to eventually construct a tube amp from scratch. I know I have a ways to go before I get there. Repairing this amp and understanding what I am doing is a step in the right direction.

Once I get the caps in, I will post up again. Thanks to both Martin and Phil for your indispensable help.

In the "Garage Talk" section of this forum is a "Sticky" (a post that stays at the top of the pile) called "Reading Material on Steroids." There are links to lots of good reference material for you there.
