OK, I moved the black wire to the tip of the fuse and the death cap is out. I think that will work great.

I spoke too soon. The power switch is different than Im use to seeing on an amp. Its a three position switch. The middle position is off. The up position is on and the down position is REV. Im not sure what that means but before when I had the black wire on the switch both up and down turned the amp on. Now it doesn't come on in the on position. It only comes on in the REV position. I guess I should put the black wire back on the switch except when I did that both ON and REV position turned the amp on and there didn't seem to be any difference between the two. What is the REV position?

REV is meant to reverse the polarity of the power. This was a needed option before the ground wire was introduced into house wiring.

Make sure you have a jumper (short wire) from the top of the switch to the bottom of the switch just like in the pictures provided. This will allow you to turn the amp on by flipping up or down.

I have that similar Valco amp, but it uses a 3 position switch with up "ON", middle "OFF", and down is "STANDBY". I haven't gotten around to replacing the cord yet, but it seems I would only have to wire the hot to the mains side of the switch. (The original cord is not polarized).
By the way a Weber 12A125A really makes the little amp sing!
