I read an old thread where there was some discussion about how to get two different switchable volumes from an Express type build (or I guess ANY cranked up amp). There was a lot of "you get what you get and that's it" type thing. Glen suggested the UA with the dual master mod. But it can be much easier. The amps I build aren't unlike TW's (though it was an accident, I designed them long before any TW circuits were revealed) and I include a speaker driven line out on my amps. It would be easy enough to build an outboard speaker driven line out though. So what you can then do is run your amp as usual and run a cable from the line out to an A/B box, then from the A/B to a channel on the house PA. The A/B box is used as an on/off switch in this case. You set up the volume on the PA to give a little boost when the A/B box is stepped on. Nothing to it. I suppose you could just build an on/off into the line out too. Just make sure the "off" position shorts the output of the line out so the PA wont sit there humming.
I put the line out on my amps because they're small (15 watts) so the line out is needed for the PA on most gigs unless you want to stick a mic in front of the cab.
Just wanted to share this.
