Features to add

Post by Reeltarded »

I am about to redo an 80s BB combo reissue as a 50wt tube recto plexi head. Goodbye cruel trem.

It's going to be straight Marshall, up to the point where I have 2 holes on the front panel that need chicken heads doing something useful.

It's going to have a PPIMV in back. I am considering switchable tone stacks, maybe three on one pot, and either the "Watts" control or some perverse other thing I haven't thought of. I have previously liked mid slope on a 4 stage thing.

What are two controls I might like up there? This is all about distortion. This amp won't ever have to play anything clean.

Fill my holes! (if you touch my junk, I'll have you arrested)

Put a pot in one of the holes (labeled "Reality") that controls the brightness of an LED/Lamp/Etc. in the other hole. Make sure the pot goes from 1 to 13. Then when you are playing gigs occasionally go fiddle with the Reality knob. When people in the audience (usually other guitar players) ask you about that knob be very vague. Eventually word will get out and you can start selling this mod for bucks.

Will this also work with SE output?

built in variac

govenor bring the little bastard down to 1watt

push pull mid boost / cut

you could wire several styles of master volume for different tone shaping use Push pull pots for bypass.

Tuner out -
or effects loop on a balanced tip ring sleeve 1/4" jack
tip send
ring return

line out with volume control

additional EQ - more mid control , hi / lo pass shelf

pre amp out / power amp in for running slave and master

detented switch with bypass and then preset eq tone stacks so if you play the same rooms you can dial in the eq meter it and build it on the selector when bypassed - no eq when in room 1 and it will bypass your tone stack.

same principal could be applied to your input and the guitars you use. active passive , single coil , humbucker, 6 string, 7 string, 12 string, acoustic....

Reminds me of a friend who plays bass. On stage, he often walks over to the front where the fold back speakers are and taps around with his foot in the shadows like he is switching a pedal; there is actually nothing there!... he also counts how many times he can do complete laps of the stage per gig, it just looks like he is wandering about, but in reality he is going for a record!!

That's what cover songs do to to a man eventually....

LOL! I used to mess with friends walking through the woods after dark. If you are the leader, people will copy your every move in the dark! Looks like Monty Python.

Varitone! I am going to wire a varitone that I already have to input 1, and I think the Watts control in the other hole. I use a variac per amp. I am interested in what I can get out of this thing variaced with the PPIMV and the Watts control.

I need a head box with a big mouth. :D
