You guys ever calibrate your meters? I've checked my Fluke 89 IV a few times against accurate sources and it has managed to stay in spec. This is a higher quality meter though so you'd expect as much. With cheaper meters, I tend to not trust them as far as I can throw them unless they've been professionally cal'ed. Usually this isn't an issue, but it's always a good idea to check the equipment you rely on for safety reasons (i.e. measuring the B+ is drained before touching anything).

I thought with the digital stuff calibration wasn't really necessary?

I have my flukes calibrated every 2 years. based on when the calibratin certificate expires. not that it'll ever matter but it's calibration is legal in the court of law. It's for piece of mind if nothing else.

Volts.. you can't handle the volts... or something like that... A few good meters. 8)

What is actually checked, is mainly the accuracy of the internal reference for the A/D converter, which is also how one adjusts the cal...
All the other measurements are derived from measuring voltage across various resistor strings, compared to the A/D ref....
