Learning how they work

Post by jcruppe »

I have built and modified a few amps as well as effects. I have been following instructions or mods already proven to work.
For example, I am thinking of building a two stroke style amp. I know that it is Class A.
What if I want to make the two stroke 15 or 20 watts instead of the 8 or 9 that it is listed?
What if I want to make it a push pull amp then what do I do?
What if I want a train wreck Liverpool with two el84s instead of four?
I have the Guitar Amplifier Handbook by Dave Hunter and the DVD and Tube Guitar Amplifier Servicing & Overhaul by Gerald Weber.
Is there information here or elsewhere on the net that I haven't found?

Thanks in advance.

Check the "Reading Material on Steroids" in the Garage Talk section.

Is there more to learn?

ALWAYS.

Like football...there is various levels of involvement and enjoyment.
And always more to learn.
I've forgotten more than I know!

This forum link below has members that build the two stroke and if you need info ask on that forum or I can send you layouts, schematics and board layout. Also weber has a kit called Maggie that is a two stroke kit.

The other info you seek is available right on this forum.
