Who received the 1st clone of #183? I thought that you would have received it as you provided the source material but this post leads me to think that someone else did?Speaking of which, thats why I was banned from TGP for all who ask. I posted a Dumble style clip and someone wrote "Are you a dentist"? I responded...."Why yes I am! Bend over and I will fill your cavity for you!" HAHAHA!!!
BOOM!!! 5 minutes later I get an email saying I am banned for life.
No sense of humor over there I tell you!

VERY GOOD VERY GOOD!!!
Everything is stock. I just adjusted the amp this time instead of having everything at noon. One thing I just discoverd...(Bad boy Shadster!) the bright switch is wired so that its on in the DOWN position. That means its been on in all of my other clips. This time it was off. I will have to re-wire that.

Re: QUINN "DUMBLE #183" CLONE ARRIVES.
Are there any other builders attempting to build the TKT 183?
I would luv to see how close your builds are getting to the magical #183 in regards to tone.
Is the posted schematic getting you folks close or in the ball park?
Are schematics helping or hurting...?

Re: QUINN "DUMBLE #183" CLONE ARRIVES.
I have a Glaswerks SOD II EL34 100 watt head with the Phat Momma voicing. That voicing is based on the fabled 183 voicing, but I have no idea how close it actually is, as there are only a handfull of people (if that) that actually know the entire CORRECT circuit. My Glaswerks sounds great and is certainly in the ballpark of the tones I have heard posted in this thread. I'm sure there will be a few EL34 Dumble clones show up over the next year or so as the 183 voicing is very unique and way too much fun to play with for there not to be some more come on the market. How close they all are to the real deal is certainly going to make for some interesting and robust threads in the months to come.

Agree. And we should all thank Dumble for making such a unique sounding amp. I cant stop playing this thing. Its 2 AM and I have to get up early, but I cant turn it off. What a blast to play! (And again, thanks to Shad for taking on this project and doing such a great job for me.) Here is my first Tele clip with it. Its a match made in heaven! Pick lightly and its dark and smooth as glass. Dig in, and it will take your head off if you want. SO fine!Mac Daddy wrote:

Dr. D.
Looks like from the pic above, you have gone back to the roots of a proper sounding Dumble.
Two Rock E-PRO
Two Rock Custom Reverb Sig 1
Quinn TKT 183
I have a TR CRS 1 #78 that I get to play from time to time...and will say...its one heck of an amp.
What serial number is the CRS V1?
Enjoy the hell out those amps.

Re: QUINN "DUMBLE #183" CLONE ARRIVES.
Thanks, I agree with you totally. I have played a lot of Dumbles and clones, and these are the absolute best at giving me the tones "I" like in Dumble amps. (Blue line Ford and older Carlton) The sig 1 is a great amp. Mine is an artist. I had an original sig V1 and original Artist, but had to let them go when I bought the Dumble. If you want what I feel is a big improvement in the sigV1, have TwoRock change it to the Artist specs. You can probably do it yourself if you can find the exact changes, maybe Bill would tell you. I know the grid resistors are different, and there are some other differences as well. The Artist is EXTREMELY close to #183 in tone, and very similar to my Quinn 183 as well. Its funny because the Artist was the supposed "poormans" sig V1, but surprise surprise! The tone in the Artist is much better. The amp I have now is a new build. I could not find an original artist anywhere, (They have been out of production for several years), so I had TwoRock custom build me one. Well, I ordered an Artist, but they sent me a sig V1. I did not know it when I got it, but in 5-6 notes I was very disappointed. I had clips of my Artist, sig 1 and sig2, and it sounded like a cross between my sig 1 and 2. Not like the Artist at all. I called Bill, and he searched and found out the differences. He had forgotten, and thought the Artist was just a sig 1 with a few less features. They ended up switching transformers, the grid resistors, taking out the 1/2 power switch, and a few other minor things and sent it back. The iprovement in tone was astounding, and now its one of my favorite TwoRocks and Dumble clones along with my original Artist. (wish I could find that one again! In any case, akiller amp, as is the Emerald Pro which gets even better by changing the treble cap from the stock 330 to a 500. (Thanks Scott lerner!) I have a switch so I can use both, as with a tele or Strat, sometimes the 330 sounds better. Killer amps!makrisp wrote:Dr. D.

Sounds great Tag. Playing was superb on the Tele blues....
We really need to get together. I think you will really like what I am playing through now. I knwo what you like and have played 183 several times. I can say with confidence you will be really impressed not only with that circuit build, but even more so with the high voltage MM amp and the Ojai. Plain sick....
Lets shoot for some type of gathering.
