I have built a couple of Vox derived designs such as a Spitfire and a Lightning using generic 18 watt OT's.
Having played about with the reflected impedance of the OT using a 16k tap with an 8 ohm speaker, I found that I prefer the normal 8k tap with 8 ohm speaker.
However, I'm wondering if using a Matchless OT such as one from www.transformerdesignandsupply.com would produce a more Vox like amp. Currently both amps are more in the Marshall camp than in the Vox camp.
Has anyone "upgraded" from am 18 watt OT to a Matchless or Vox OT in a Spitfire or Lightning?

Bob is a member here and I installed their custom 18w set into a Marshall 18w tremolo head and really like the tone.
The PT was 140mA 290v-0-290v.
