I've seen a few of Lee's Marshalls, and I am confident this is his work.
Bruno, Torres, Gerald Weber, Mark Cameron, and Lee's mods are all pretty spooky, despite how well they may sound.

I vote for this as "worst ever" Marshall mod.

Nice. And someone actually paid for that. I guess if you are going to goop up the amp and spray paint everything inside, you might as well drill a bunch of hole in the face to go with it.

I didn't know about that Cameron guy... holy Jesus what a way to run a business.. I've never been inside any of those guys amps personally but some of the hack jobs you guys have posted are scarier than even my first few projects. you guys should post more pics if you got em.

Ooh, I'm just dying to find out what's underneath that f&^%$#@ mess. I wonder what would possess anyone to do that? BTW, how did that Cameron Marshall sound?
I like the idea of a thread with pics of hacked up amps..

I had never heard of Mark Cameron either, but a quick google search yeilds a lot of negative press.

I would be afraid of that paint conducting.
I can't believe the lengths people go to in order to obscure their circuitry.
In my opinion, it is usually because it is a simple mod or borrowed from someone else.
They're afraid if someone saw how simple their mod is or is thieved from another builder, they would be out of a job.

It's even more ridiculous that they made the amp nearly impossible to work on if any one of the gooped components break. I get the idea of wanting to protect your circuital innovations (if they are yours) but why make your amplifiers into something that would only be a boat anchor if it broke..

I doubt if that is red paint probably a coating to keep things from shifting, totally unnecessary.
Look at some of Bruno's amps and you just have to scratch your head when you do.

I meant the black glue/jizz/whatever he sprayed everywhere in an attempt (I guess..) to prevent stuff from moving. I have no idea what he was thinking either way..M Fowler wrote:I doubt if that is red paint probably a coating to keep things from shifting, totally unnecessary.

I'm sure he has a complete schematic and digital pictures to replace anything that has failed under that stuff
As a builder, I limit how much of this I will post here. I got roasted for posting Bruno and Two Rock pictures that everyone claimed was a "modded amp" a number of years ago. Remember, these are competitors in my business, and I don't need an amp over my head at a NAMM show....
Problem is, many "boutique" amps I've fixed look like that. It's okay for some amp hobbiest to post whatever he likes in my book. I get looked at kinda differently, which I'm sure many of you can appreciate. Boy, I got some real doozies....maybe I should start a webpage just for that..... www.hackbutcher.com

I know what you mean Andy but I think it was a bit of a moral dilemma about posting competitors gut shots.
But man, I can't believe some of the work I have seen.
You would think on a production amp, especially a boutique builder that doesn't build that many amps a month would take care and make it pretty inside.
I would wager that most of the guys here that build amps as a hobby do a better job of wiring and overall quality of the amp than many "pro" builders.

WTF? That Marshall makes the Bandmaster look like a gem.
My first real amp was a non-master Bandmaster Reverb. It was too loud and clean for me with the JBL K110 loaded 2x10 Fender cab that I nabbed for it. Paid $300 for both pieces in '92. Great rig, but I was a teenager as grunge was breaking, so a bad rig for me at the time. Damn, I wish I still had those, though. A couple minor tweaks and maybe modding the bias for 6V6's and that amp would have worked for me with a more rock speaker. But then again, the first time I saw the Torres flyer/catalog . . . Maybe it was for the best.
