Tasmanian Blackwood for head cabs...

Post by dr. who »

I haven't seen much of it used, but it looks very nice. Are there any AU AGers who have seen it used in head cabs before?

Here's some photos to show color and figure that Tas Blackwood can get.

Beautiful wood, I haven't heard of that before.

Should look killer on a cab. :D

I've been in love with the Trainwreck cabs for a long time, and now Carlos Santana has shown me that Dumbles should look equally as nice.

I think this style best suits Dumble type amps-

I hadn't hear of Blackwood either until this guitar:

Someone posted this (their) Blackwood guitar on a forum. Lost track of which one. If it was this one, thanks! Not trying to steal your thunder, but this one's a stunner.

Check out www.mccustomcabinets.com. There may be a redirect to a photo bucket type site for further examples of his cabinets.

Yes it is a lovely timber, my father is a very talented joiner and have been meaning to get him to build some cabs. it is used on some maton guitars, used by Josh Homme and Ben Harper

Just a word of warning, this timber has spores that are carcinogenic, so dust protection is a must, it is banned in Tasmanian school woodwork classes

Good to know. Is something more than a central vacuum and dust mask required?
