ya know they sure know how to make your ears WATER tho! lol!dogears wrote:Interesting. They describe it as having the same type of choke as RF. A power resistor. Well, that one was debunked. RF has a Fender choke.
Still, probably a real nice amp.
...Scott, what are you doing now if you don`t mind me asking? STill in the M&S biz ?

yes, power resistor and no choke. But in the eyes of some sellers every amp is of course at least just the same as RF's amp if not even "once used by Robben Ford on the birthday party of his grandma". LOL!
But indeed, a nice amp with a nice skyline tone similar to the tone of the Peter Lerche amp AFAIR http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ap6odoC4itw. AFAIR I liked #173 best of the three 100W skyline amps I am familiar with. 6L6, 4/8 ohm OT, no bright cap at the master volume. More detailed specs I can't remember anymore; too long ago. #121, the SSS/ODS amp, has some kind of skyline stack, too (some different pot values AFAIR). #121 I liked best out of all the "skyline" amps I know.
BTW: They have marked #173 as "sold" already since a year or so if I remember right.
Have a great weekend,
Max

I have always really liked the tone Peter was getting from his amp in that clip. Do you know more about this specific amp? Such as which schematic/DNA, non-HRM, Skyliner? I love the clarity without excessive detail in the clean tone. There is a wonderfully warm roundness to it without being muddy. The description of the amp says ODS 100 (blackface) but I am not familiar with this...only 101?
I love the OD tone at 1:50!
Cheers.

Re: #173
Peter's amp is a non-HRM with a pre 200 serial #. Correct me if I'm wrong although.

Thanks Greg! So is it a safe assumption that Peter's amp is close to the ODS 101 non-HRM schematic with Skyliner stack?boldaslove6789 wrote:Peter's amp is a non-HRM with a pre 200 serial #. Correct me if I'm wrong although.
