This is what I will do with my D'Lite as well. It has a smaller 33W Vibrolux OT (for 6V6, I use 6L6) and no choke.

Will install a Fender Prosonic 50W OT (4/8/16 taps) and a choke.
I've got the OT already but no choke. Which one is in the Ojai/Robben Dumble? 4H or even higher? Somebody mentioned a 10H choke.

Hi,

in my opinion the dc-resistance is more important than the inductance.
The 4H-Fendertype (Twin, Bandmaster etc) should do the job.

Where did you get the Prosonic-OT from?

If you feel that way, use a resistor instead of a choke. I have several amps I've done that on and they sound and feel great. IMHO it doesn't make much difference until you crank it when the resistor starts adding some sag to the screens and preamps.

I got my Prosonic OT from Angela. Thanks to Structo!

Hi,

does anyone where I can get the SBE 6PS Caps from (in europe)?

Im going for the Bassman-OT with the single 4Ω-winding.
What do you think is the best replacement for this OT? - seems as if there are no more fender-originals sold?!
Where do you get your OTs from?

Thanks!
- Swen

I know lots of guys swear by those caps, but I've had good success with Xicon MPP as well. The Sprague 225's are good as well. Do't hold up your build over $20 worth of caps.

Magnetics Components has some really good Fender type xformers, as does Mercury Magnetics. I haven't tried them but I hear good things about Hammond Fender replacements as well.

For values that are unobtanium in EU you can use Cornell Dubilier DME series. Available at Banzaii; http://www.banzaimusic.com/DME-Series-630V/

I ordered the last bunch of 6PS from audiocap.uk but they don´t have the 100nF caps anymore.
Would be nice if I could get em all within one order

Here's one;

Using a 12" tone tubby.

I am also using this at home for bedroom level practice. While I can't get the impact, I do get a sound that I like playing with. At such low volumes, my Fender amps lose their individual characteristics. But the Overtone Special still projects many nuances and shades at this level.

Get Larry or Robben to play thru it--it'll be there, trust me
