Don't take everyone's comments as being personal. If we did that here, I think a few might get offended by your broad brush determination that we are all "assholes".
This is the internet and everyone has their opinion. Don't get all defrosted.

I was just starting to enjoy talking to you Mrscratch
You can't get along with everyone in this big ole world.
I'm waiting to hear your amp and report back about how you like it

Re: Trainwreck.com change
Look, Dude just spent $5,000. You don't really think he is readily going to agree with anything any of us ,who can build whatever amp we want, has to say. I would be hurt and embarrassed too if I spent that kind of money thinking I was getting something that I really was not. My opinion is ...If Ken didn't build it, it aint authentic! PERIOD. Not to say there aren't and can't be TW styled amps built from now on. There are and will continue to be great amps built based on Ken's designs. Hell, Hang around this forum long enough and you will see it done on a weekly basis. I am even building one and I am half blind. Will it be an authentic TW? NO, Will it sound damn good? YES! Will I put a TW logo on it? Of course not.
Dude showed us some exterior pix. Great , I really doubt it that he is going to show any interior gut shots. But if he is technical minded he can open it up and compare what he has to the many pix on this site of our builds and authentic TW builds. He can see for himself what he has. I am sure any of the guys who are near him would welcome the opportunity to A/B them.

This was posted on TGP a few days ago. I agree with what was said back then. My opinion posted above above does not contradict with what Mrscratch himself said earlier on so lets move on. KFs legacy lives on in one form or another.MRscratch;8961949 wrote:we can all appreciate that ken was the true owner and mastermind behind the trainwreck fame.
the fact remains that many builders can and have achieved builds that are just as good as some of the originals.it can be done.
the difference here is that Jm and family have the right to call these
TRAIWRECK. the way i see it, as soon as you had to change tubes, and KEn didnt do it for you, then it is the same situation that we now have. i have changed tubes and found my own sound in my amps for about 20 years.
the trainwreck amp ,supplied by JM is just a platform for experimentation in tone.
Re: Trainwreck.com change
woah, lets all count to ten and start over.
I have been thinking about this for a few hours. hear me out before you get snippy.
Technically the Reissue Wreck is an authentic clone, it's not the traditional trainwreck voiced by Ken for the client but like the category I suggested it's based off of another pre built wreck. this will give it a certain level of "quality control" but, it is in the same category as glens clones. Great amp but a grey area of authentic, yes it's authentic by name and trademark, but not by traditional build practices.
The new trainwrecks are factory authorized "clones" that is why the guy building it doesn't matter and the face plates are all the same. The magic is in the tube selection.
I think I personally would have excepted it more if they had been out right and said Ken's magic can't be duplicated but due to demand, we have authorised JM the use of ken's shop and remaining stock of parts, and tubes ken hand picked. to produce a limited run of TW clones each model is based on... "X" rocket "Y" express "Z" liverpool amps that were originally voiced by ken.

As for the Memorial amp built to honor Ken? Who's idea was that? A self appointed ambassador of the Fischer family, thats who. Like you guys were not putting your names out their to fill the void in Ken's passing. Speaking of passing, how many of you guys were at his funeral? And helped and continue to help his family?
Calm down girls, this is not the time or place to have a hissy fit. As for these Trainwrecks, the list is now frozen, no more orders are being taken! There are original Wreck owners who now have JM's work, ....shoosh be quiet.....I'm waiting to hear them complain of his.....wait.....did you hear that?....wait....oh it was the cat! Or maybe they'll put`em up for sale? yeah that's what they'll do? My bad it's a clone, oh wait it's an original.....
Grow up and get a life! Practice your guitar, you might get better?

Re: Trainwreck.com change
What I want to know is whether you managed to get your own clone. Seems like you were quite interested at some point. Its even amusing how you were praising this community at one point and how you were looking for a gifted builder and now its all poo.peach wrote:It's nice to find a group of people who are passionate about their pursuit of excellence in amplification. I guess we all have a critical ear, and appreciation of Trainwrecks.
Can anyone suggest a gifted builder who has got his workmanship together that can build a Liverpool. Upgraded Telefunken EL84s, NOS pre-Amp tubes. Bubbinga/Maple Cab, etc...Need
Thanks, Peach
Anyways, wishing you all the best in your endeavors. Its all in the name of tone. Each to his/her own.
Re: Trainwreck.com change
Boy, that's so wrong. The amplifier in question was a collaborative effort by a group of genuinely well-intentioned builders who planned to auction the amp to help Ken's mother pay for Ken's funeral and winding-up expenses. The Fischer family responded in a graceless, knee-jerk negative way and sank the project. (Although the amp still got built.) It was a selfless gesture on the part of these amp builders to honour one of their own - their champion, if you will - and help KF's family in a difficult time.As for the Memorial amp built to honor Ken? Who's idea was that? A self appointed ambassador of the Fischer family, thats who. Like you guys were not putting your names out their to fill the void in Ken's passing. The project was petulantly flung back in their faces. People can behave in an unfortunate manner when under stress, so the Fischers were given several chances to take advantage of this generous offer. Each time they became progressively more classless and ungrateful. No good deed goes unpunished, eh?
The people who built it stood to gain nothing; the public at large do not know who they are, so there's no personal or business kudos spinning off the venture. The amp remains unsold. It's currently in the posession of somebody who could build another half-dozen of these before the end of the month, so the idea of 'a free amp' is utterly redundant. The builders concerned still converse regularly. Sometimes adversity brings people together....

Re: Trainwreck.com change
It's unfortunate that this guy scratch got caught up in an ethics and morality discussion amongst amp builders and hobbiests about the Trainwreck website, the family, and cloners. It appears he may be one of the first guys to commit to one, he spent a lot of money, he's passionate about wanting it to be good, and he got caught up in this side-discussion. He has every right to defend his 5-K purchase, and be concerned about it, and feel he needs to defend it.
Enough already, I want to see it, hear it and start a new thread.

I Agree Completely 100% - but he did post in this WTF Trainwreck? thread, I'd like to see him post a new thread - something like "check out my awesome new amp." I'm sure the posts will be more supportive.FUCHSAUDIO wrote:It's unfortunate that this guy scratch got caught up in an ethics and morality discussion amongst amp builders and hobbiests about the Trainwreck website, the family, and cloners. Seriously doubt that will happen. He just deleted his posts here and stated he "can't listen to these ********* Blowhards anymore" over at TGP!
