thanks man - i may have to wait alittle on the build. i started to silicone these caps in and after reading decided on the glue gun instead. i dont think i can get all the silicone residue off the caps( i can get the silicone off they are just still really oily ) so i may order some new ones. id o have some f& t's 47u and 22u but i wanted to use the 40u and 20u per francesca spec. sso i may wait and get some new spragues like the ones i have that are all oily.
I'm starting my Express build shortly and I'm going to try using plastic cable ties to hold the filter caps in place. I have some small plastic chassis mount cable tie brackets that are made for this purpose which should work nicely without all the goop. So we'll see how it goes when I get that far along .

VaughnC, You may find that there isn't enough clearance with those ties depending on the caps you use. Mallory and sprague just fit inside the chassis. Xicons will give more room but, not the correct "look" if that is a issue.
thanks guys! so last night when i finished her i realized i didnt have a 2amp slow blow fuse! arg.. then right as i was about to fall asleep i thought - ' my tweed has a 2amp slow blow in it!!!! ' ill be checking it out today some.
one more question... with the chassis right side up, as it sits in a head box, is Francesca in on the on possition with the switches up or down?
my plexi build is down is on up is off is why i ask... which seems backwards to me anyway.
so i fired it up to take some readings ( no tubes installed- flipped the power switch only )... the 220k 1/2 watt resistor fried in seconds.. the one thats connected to the diodes on the power board... do i need a 1 watt there or something?
hey man, unless you changed it from your posted pics, you have a 220ohm resistor in that pos. (ie--bias supply voltage dropping resistor) instead of a 220k. you should probably use a 1 or 2 watter here and you will probably find you have to lower the value--maybe to 150k--to keep the tubes from biasing too hot.
hopefully frying that one didn't take out some of the other parts there as well---i'd check values to make sure and the bias supply wiring---. rh

swapped it for a 220K 1/2 watt and no smoke - let me take some readings!
the bias supply is working it appears. with no tubes , reading pin 5 the pot sweeps between 23.5 and 32... the amp doesnt work at this point..it makes a loud bzzzz/hummm and clicks every now and then.
i need a voltage chart of some kind to see whats up.
