Hello!
This is my first post into the Trainwreck side (I've built one D-clone).
I live in EU area so my question is that has anyone have a succesful Express build with other OT transformers than described here in the forum. With other transformers I mean Hammond, Fender, Marshall..
Can You see anything useful on this site:

Thank You,

Re: EU area transformers ?
Hi Mat,
European Voltage mains transformers for Express style amps are available from Andy Fuchs www.fuchsaudiotechnology.com and Nik at www.ceriatone.com. I have amps from both guys and they are fine.
Good Luck,
Rob.

What would You say is more critical for the Express sound - the power tranny or the OT ?
Would be really nice to hear if anyone has succesfully built the Express with 'ordinary' trannies ?
cheers,

Re: EU area transformers ?
Hi Mat,
It makes sense to me that the output tranny is much more critical than the mains tranny in terms of it's affect on the overall tone of the amp.
With a mains tranny, so long as you get the right voltages at a sufficient current rating then you're more or less set. With output trannies there's all kinds of voodoo going on which I don't feel qualified to express an opinion on. There's guys on this board who can explain what goes on in an output tranny.
Cheers,
Rob.
