New Member: Hi to all!!!

Hi!

I just signed in, I thought Id like to use my first post to say hi to everyone here.

I am 31 and have played guitar for about 15 years, on and off. During the last 6 years I picked up the instrument sparingly and have been mostly dedicated to my other hobby: Mopar Musclecars.

But lately, I have kinda been burned out from the car hobby and need to make a change.

I want to pick back up the guitar, play a lot, and also, I want to experiment with gear...mainly analag stomp boxes and amp.

I have zero experience, but Im looking foward to building my own stomp boxes and amps...

I have a Gibson Les Paul, a couple home made strats, an EVH Music Man (awesome axe), and a PRS Santana Model.

Regarding amps, I have a Peavey 5150 block letter head, a Marshall 4 x 12 cabinet, and a Mesa Boogie Mark IV combo.

Stomp boxes, I have a Crybaby wha, a newer Ibanez Tube screamer, A Jim Dunlop Fuzz Face (red case), an Electro Harmonix Memory Man, MXR Zakk Wylde Overdrive, a MXR Van Halen Phase 90, and thats about it.

I want to build me a Dumble replica amp...Im not sure if I want an Overdrive Special or a Steel String Singer.

What books should I get to get my started on building my own???

Welcome aboard, I'm a hardcore Bowtie fan, but I do love Mopars with "real" Hemis. A couple of years ago I was hanging out a friends shop and he had a 68' Cuda in that he was doing some chassis upgrades too. The owner had just dropped in a Ray Barton 572CI Hemi, talk about a pretty thing.

I've built a few 420+ CI normally aspirated and nitrous smallblocks. I did pick up a 106mm turbo and a 492CI BBC rotating assembly with the intent to build a turbo combination for heads up racing, but I've kind of loss interest. Although, I did do some block prep for street engine project yesterday.

There's some amazing players and real Dumble amp subject matter experts here. I would say use the search function and review the many threads before commiting to either.

Personally, I would recommend building something much smaller and simplistic to get your feet wet in high volatge electronics/amp building.

Hi,

I love all Musclecars, I'm just a bit biased towards the Mopars...I guess it has something to do with that engine with HUGE valvecovers...hehe. I am very luck to having found an original 69 HEMI Charger 4 speed which Im currently restoring. This is like owning an original Dumble for an amp fanatic I guess.

I also like some of the bowties....with the 69 Camaro ZL1 being one of my favorite musclecars ever. I also love the 63 vette splitwindows.

Yes, building a Dumble clone I guess wouldn`t probably be the best project to get me started...but it would not hurt to start reading some and getting educated. So any reccomendations on must-read books would be great!!! Remember I'm a total beginner, I dont even know where to start. I have ZERO knowledge on electronics.

I grew up with so many sweet Mopars around as well as other muscle cars what an era.

I owned a 68 GTX 440 and that car was killer and list of some of the cars I once had:

68 camero 327 4 speed
69 Firebird 400 4 speed
66 Chevelle 396 4 speed
55 chevy 2dr post 327 4 speed
1923 T bucket with mopar 440/auto
1923 T bucket with 350 chevy/auto

Currently I only have a 1997 Camero RS and 1950 Chevy 3 window pickup to play with.

Amps sounds like you could use a Dumble ODS
