Tag is a friend of mine. He has some serious $ issues right now and is forced to sell. He has not taken delivery of the clone. So, did it work?? Impossible to say.

The Dumble is being sold regardless.

That is too bad for TAG he really liked that amp and his recordings were good, great playing.

Not surprised!! He pretty much made it clear( in so many words) he got it to clone it then blow it out..No doubt the reason why he talked up how great the amp sounded put up clips here and on TGP so when he got ready to sell it it would move fast cause it sure wasn't to help out any of the builders here..spamming at it's most obvious to me!!..You better believe if he hadn't been banned from here there would be a boo hoo post trying to unload it ..Personally I've heard better sounding amps from builders right here..Have a Nice Day..

I don't know Scott. I tend to agree with Tony. I mean if he needed the money so badly, wouldn't the price be lower than what it is? I think it is more likely he now understands that sound can be had for <3k from a number of sources and he is trying to pass it off before too many others come to that same conclusion. 55k is a lot even for a collector. I am not usually up for gossip, but this topic really fascinates me and inquiring minds want to know.

I thought Buzzy sold it to him for like $40-42k, it was listed for $45k, if he's really hurting why the big upcharge. Hope he gets things straightened out.

Guy, this is not open to argument. Here are the facts.

Tag bought the amp for $50K. He offered $45K but Buzzy stuck to the 50K number.

He found out that he had been robbed when getting the $50K together. So, he really funded it from other monies not intended for amp purchases.

He is indeed waiting for a clone that is not remotely done. This is FACT.

He is selling a bunch of stuff off since he has a mountain of debt piling up since his business is slow.

Like him or hate him, he has serious business issues now and the sale is because he needs to sell. I can't fault the guy for trying to make a buck....

He has also sold off the majority of his archtop collection!

I have personally been to his house. He had a large collection of amazing axes. He is a real guy, opinionated yes, but a real guy.

Ok, I am convinced. I take back my other post which was not based on fact, but more of a reaction to his and ampdork's arrogance. In this economy, its not hard to imagine someone having to sell prized possessions. I hope he bounces back.

Actually amp prices are on the rise. I don't know why in this economy but they are. TW's are going for sick money. $38K for an Express, $40K+ for a Rocket!!!

No disrespect to Tag, This economy is just starting to tank. The people I know that can afford
To pay $50.000 for guitar amp would never do it. I’m working on the purchase of a custom build home
The contractor had 1.3 million tied up in this home before the bank foreclosed on the contractor.
The bank started at $900.000 this week the bank will take $400.000 when it drops to $250.000
I will jump on it? This is what is going on worldwide. I had some jackass adviser try to get me
To leverage my business (make that money work for you) I told the worthless bitch if I can’t
Pay cash for it I don’t deserve it; She replied it does not work that way anymore.
Time will tell. Back to the subject matter In this economy the Dumble ODS would be lucky
to fetch $25.000 to $30.000. I hope I’m wrong. One thing is for sure this amp building is fun. :D

I would credit the rise in TW more to Ken's passing than anything.(.although the Paisley factor doesn't hurt either!!) That's usually the drill 10-20% bump up in value after the artist blows off the mortal coil.. Same will happen with the Dumbles..as a whole and in general everyone else including a large chunk of the vintage market goes hand in hand with the economy.. I read somewhere that PRS had to take some bail out money last year.. If they hadn't they would have shut down in July of 09.. The high end market always gets it first and the worst

It's really too bad. I feel for Tag. He has had alot of bad luck the last while.
I'm curious too know how the clone amp went/or is going. If all goes good for Tag, he'll have some money in his pocket and a new clone amp to brag about.

Scott, in your opinion why does it take so long to build that clone?

Have you played that amp? What do you think about it? Is it so peculiar?

thanks
Teo

p.s. sorry for Tag, but actually there's no way I am going to spend 55k for his amp
