Komet Constellation going out of production?

Post by krash »

Over on TGP someone suggested that Komet is ending production of the Constellation. Anyone else heard that? Is it true?

I believe the user was Mlongano on TGP. I will try to find it. He said that Mike (Hogy's partner) told him that the connie was not to be continued. This arose after a discussion of microphonic octal preamps. They were having a hard time finding reliable tubes also. I guess it would be easy to find out. Just e-mail Komet and find out.

Here ya go from Hogy - off The Gear Page.

Here's the deal:

The Constellation is still in production and will remain so for a while, but ultimately it will be phased out in its current form.
This has nothing to do with its popularity, the reason is that it has become very different to score good 6SN7 tubes in quantity.

If you own a Constellation, or plan on picking one up, there are still a lot of these tubes out there for you to build up a stash to outlast you, but it takes some time and effort, and it is no longer feasible for us to do on a production basis.

So the future of the Komet Constellation will either be a Mk.II version with redesigned clean channel, or discontinuation.

Hope this clears things up a bit.
