Orange drops, Blue ?
I noticed the Blue dipped capacitors in a Two Rock amp and someone mention the polyesters 418, PS now in blue ? Does anyone know if these are special order from the factory or are they being made that way.

I gues Two-Rock orders them in that color.
I think 1000pcs is minimum order for custom-color and printing on Vishay Components.

Dr. Z uses custom labeled OD's. They're still orange, but the label may or may not be accurate

No, they use 400V and 630V Sprague-types labeled with "K&M Analog" in blue housing.
Re: Orange drops, Blue ?
I visit A LOT of different guitar/amp forums. Coupling caps are the number one war starter. Cap color is a huge concern for a lot of players. Remember the consternation when Mallory started producing some of their 150 series caps with a WHITE plastic covering instead of the standard YELLOW. There were guys on forums swearing on their mothers grave that they could hear a difference. I had a bunch of yellow Mallory's in that value. I was hoping to sell some at a huge profit to some of these anal, freaks, but I never got the chance.
But when you sell amps that have the Perceived Value of a Two Rock (how much would a Three Rock cost.?), it creates a huge mystique to have Blue (Orange) Drop caps in your chassis. Nobody else has them, they must be special, that is just one reason the amps are so expensive.....
Good Luck

The reason I was asking was just because I heard of a couple of buliders who used them and it was something new to me. I was just trying to find out if they were just custom order or just something New from Vishay. You never know sometimes a manufacture can do this for a stupid unknown reason. An example would be if they make other caps mainly Blue color why make different colors caps ? cost cutting from a bean counters point of view. Another is to identify New ROHS parts like the light mustard silver mica's that are made now. ? Who knows ? Just curious.

And my comment had nothing to do with you personally. Just an observation/opinion on my part. It was a comment I probably should have kept to myself. Before I read your post, I had no idea those caps were being used....ckpop wrote:The reason I was asking was just because I heard of a couple of buliders who used them and it was something new to me.
