Bud chassis spec sheet

Post by selloutrr »

Any idea where I can view a PDF of the bud ac 425 chassis spec sheet? I need to track down 3 or have them made. I've contacted Bud they are no longer making them nor are they willing make a custom run.

I contacted Hammond about making a chassis like the Bud and they agreed to build it. I had also increased the thickness. But no chassis spec sheet in my files sorry.

Thank you for looking. I want it in all it's flimsey glory, should be able to find some one local to do a few one offs. Prob an air conditioning vent company could bend it.

Selloutrr,

I would think any reasonable sheet metal shop would accommodate you. I think Glen Kuykendall bought the last 2 unsoiled NOS ones that were left on the planet. I think they used .032 (or whatever gauge is close to that thickness) aluminum. It needs to be something malleable like 5052 alloy.

I have an old one that I salvaged from an old government lab experiment but I had to put a plate on the top so it's really not the same.

I know my machine shop friends would build it for you and I don't mind passing along their name and contact info...

no telling if mentioning my name will make the price higher or lower though... they are good friends but I know that my limited odd ball requests don't really pay the bills for them. If you have a good shop in your area it would likely be easier to work with them.

Can't find that AC-425 bugger.

They currently offer 7x17x2 and data spec for the AC line are attached.

I just measured an original NOS Bud AC425 and looks like .050 thick.

Build it like a skid plate off a Baja bug. Why just unquestioningly copy stuff? If everyone copies and no one creates we're all stuck in Beatles tribute bands. Then we all need Vox clones.

Well what do you think the Liverpool and Rocket are based off of? :)

I did not know that Rockets were derived from Baja bug skid plates. I stand corrected.

i'd use ally's chassis if it was an issue of strength they are great! i'm searching for the bud chassis because i'm i'm using all original parts. since every piece seems to matter and or effect the tone why go so far just to stray in the end?

I'm tired of the same old posts let's talk about something new like "orange heatshrink".
