$4000 makes for a nice profit margin. Since the original parts are all but dried up on the open market. Does this mean jm is using up nos parts left in ken's estate or the over the counter parts from the amp garage BOM list?

Just doing some quick math...

A clone averages ~ $900? Plus labor

It's kinda of sad and kind of exciting they are keeping trainwreck alive.
I hope they don't fuck up the magic!

1. Stand back when you fire the amp up.

2. Amps run cooler with a beer can on top.

3. Girls like a big stack.

4. Let the amp buzz even when on break who needs a standby.

5. An old Indian blanket works just fine as a make shift amp case.

1. Resistance to buy this bullshit should be exercised.
2. One does not have the capacitance to comprehend this crap.
3. Being shocked one too many times can obviously make you a retard.
4. The pot should be installed in the amp and not smoked.
5. When there is smoke it doesn't mean it should be blown up ones ass.

Screw the five laws of electronics! I know for sure what the Plumber's First Law is:

Shit flows downhill.

Except when it hits a mighty clog somewhere near the bottom. Then it erupts in a fecal geyser rivalling Old Faithful...

I believe in this and it's tested by research...

I guess I'm confussed.

Why are the new trainwrecks getting dog'd on without being heard first? If they suck then by all means let the plumber pooh be flung but what if they are a great amp? I agree the sticker price is a big hard to swallow but better then an original trainwreck. I see it more as a compliment to the cloners meaning it is possible to have a trainwreck that wasn't blessed by Ken. I understand the purest it's not a wreck unless it was touched by Ken. But this is as good as it can get a guy Ken respected. Not saying to line up and buy one or not build your own. Just give it a chance it could be a good thing. Maybe someone will disect one and share on the forum 8)

The thing that comes to mind after reading the link.

A saying in the sound business "You are only as good as your last gig"
It does not matter what you claim or what you know the results at the end of the day are what matter.

I find it kind of hard to make claims about JM and the new TW until he can produce the results first.

Just holding the holy grail does not make you a religious person if you get my point.

I can personally think of a better way to sell an amp. My rule is simple....Just let someone play the amp and the amp sells itself without having to say a word to them. Then it should impress everyone around the player in the same way.
That's How to sell an amp and your work speaks for itself.

How about because Ken wanted to get his amps into the hands of real players, but felt he couldn't a) because of his illness and b) because when he tried to get other people to build them it didn't work out?

Now, all of a sudden, JM appears who's been around Ken from the start, has 'better ears' then Ken, helped Ken tune his amps and yet never helped keep his business going when he was alive by helping him to build amps when he was clearly looking for a solution.

Also, what's the most popular Trainwreck amp, and what's (by far) the easiest to build?

Hmm, so let's consider which model he's chosen to reintroduce to the market.

At the moment it's a big file of rather fishy-smelling hype and nothing more substantive than that. The introduction of FUD into the marketing (Ken's five laws that we're not going to tell you - give me a break!) does little to suggest it's anything more than a clone built by an unwilling-to-be-named builder with a Trainwreck badge slapped on it and hyped to the max in order to be able to sell it.

Another vibe I got from the link was the sales pitch first off. I mean if you were going to focus really reissuing a trainwreck amp I sure would have sound clips of my what my work sounded like not of ken's amps he built.

I believe the sound of ken's trainwrecks and his tuning came down to a personal level and touch. That is the missing link in the equation you can try to teach that but it will never be exact. Every builder has there own thought process and decision making that will change the results in the end even if you are building a clone. Thats the magic of what ken did, A Trainwreck amp was Ken Fisher and everything else is a clone.

Even if ken did not build every single Trainwreck it still had to pass his standards and critique and approval. How can that be done ?

Another big question is the supply of actual orignal TW parts. Very limited and even for me once I run out I will never be able to duplicate my work.

So $4000, Don't think so. Yes if you have a disposible income and like showing off toys you can buy now that you couldn't when you were younger to relive your youth go ahead. I see this at blues jams every weekend LOL Sorry I'm not talking everyone but you know what I mean.
OUCH  JM I'm not knocking you or your work because I have not heard it but just wanted to know it's not going to be easy to make believers until you produce results. Best of luck and more power to you if you suceed.

One last thing How many amp builders does it take to make a amp ?
At least five.......one to do the work and 4 to say they can do it better. :D

JD or JM?
