I thought the above posts (Jana, Tubeswell and ChrisM) were very helpful and made sense, so I was bit confused why the statement "Remember that those who can't do something, teach" was posted. Anyway, just wanted to make sure I'm (and all TAG students) educated correctly. :)

Just in case the pot fails, rather have some resistance than an open circuit. Reliability thing, has been brought up in other topics recently.
This is exactly how it is done in the Express and what's on the layout. As I recall, the Schematic might not indicate it, but it is correct. I think that KF had a jumper under the board on his Express models...
