Opinions on this express build...

Post by gkelm »

I'm not a tech/builder, so I'm looking for a little advice. Thinking about buying this, Pacific tannys, etc...any thoughs on how this build looks?

Thanks.
Greg

It looks pretty typical of a clone build. The " P scaling ". I'm assuming means power scaling was not a standard on the express, though it may be a cool modification. The tone caps look to be correct. The main parts are correct or as correct as current part sources allow. If it sounds healthy and the price is right from what we have to go on it's a clean clone.

It isn't clear how the Pscale is implemented. The gut shot doesn't show anything in that regard.

Maybe that was added at a later date?

That build looks excellent with perhaps a bit more attention than typical in regards to lead dress, layout, and parts choice. It appears to have Mallory power supply caps which were used in many original wrecks but now are getting very expensive. I'd consider that a nice plus. That gut shot was taken before the power scaling was added but I bet the install of that was done cleanly even if it was done after the initial build.

^ +1 to what Glen said! Great parts and really great attention to layout and wiring. These are key to a successful Express clone. I
hope it works out for you.
