There is but only one transformer manufacturer for Marshall and that IS Brian Wallace! Buy Marstran and never look back. I have his iron in a JCM800 (2204), JTM45 and an Express copy.

+1. I just put one of his C-1998 Dagnall clones in my Marshall SLP 1959 RI together with a new board. Preamp is four gain stages plus cathode follower. The amp has never sounded so good.dartanion wrote:Marstran!
Metro would be a good choice as well. I chose Marstran over Metro because the shipping costs to Germany were much more moderate.
As far as I know both Marstran and Metro are made by Heyboer.
Cheers Stephan

Magnetic Components ClassicTone 40-18025 (50 w) or 40-18026 (100 w) + 40-18036 support brackets..... an OT for a JCM 800 sorta build, which would you choose?
Made in Chicagoland USA, as good or better than US or EU competitors, costs much less...

Wow, seems like marstran is the clear winner. anyone ever used a hammond 1750N, and if so how much difference do you think i'll hear between that and a marstran. Also, i will post a schematic in a while and see if you all can suggest a particular marstran to go with it. Thanks.
