Any verdicts on the new Jensen Jet Falcon , w the magic cone? be nice to have a new recruit for an ods no?
Re: NEW SPEAKER
I've seen that speaker in the latest guitar world mag and was interested about it also.Seems its a 50 watt with a magical green cone whatever that means. It further say the green cone is designed to ensure optimum tone and response
. It has a decent price if it is a good speaker. I would like to know more myself.
Re: NEW SPEAKER
It sounds like nothing more than Jensen's marketing hype, but I could be wrong.
Jensen used the same marketing for their Blackbird speaker. So unless someone can confirm the Blackbird really does sound much better, then the Jet Falcon is probably nothing other than a wrinkle finish on an old frame.

Re: NEW SPEAKER
Jensen sent me several of their speakers to try on that trial 30 day thing they had a year or so back.. The Blackbird was a decent sounding speaker apart from the cone cry I was getting from it..I personally don't care for the Jensen stuff...

What about the Jet Tornado..?
Seem similar to the EVM12-L, looking (only) at the frequency responce..
I`m attempted to try this due to some problems with my back.

Personally I like the Tornado. I have a couple in a 2x12 combo amp and a friend just loaded up two closed back 2 x 12 cabs with them. The smaller neo magnet makes them perfect for combos.Arne Marius Kirkaune wrote:What about the Jet Tornado..?

Re: NEW SPEAKER
Before I got my EVM's I had two Tonkerlites in my cab.
I really wanted to like them but the bottom end was lousy on them.
To be honest I thought they sounded worse than some old Peavey speakers I had years ago.
I really wanted them because of the extreme weight savings when compared to the EVM 12 L's but it just didn't happen.
Now of course I am jaded towards Neo magnets......someday I'm sure they will get them right.

Re: NEW SPEAKER
Don't be jaded, my PA cabs have neo mag speakers and they're amazing. The poly, powered, 1x15" cabs are 1/4 the weight of the old coffin sized 2x15 cabs, sound better and take up less room in the car.Structo wrote:Now of course I am jaded towards Neo magnets......someday I'm sure they will get them right.
If they can get PA cabs right, someone will get guitar cabs right too.
Re: NEW SPEAKER
Much of the problems with Neo's has to do with the Gauss and the fields they generated.. The early ones were to powerful causing them to be to be to stiff bright and harsh especially around the 1k area.. The ice pick frequency.. after they lowered the gauss did help with the harsh high end but the low end suffers now.. Don't know if they will ever find a happy median.. So many people are so used to the ceramics for guitar...

It's true i've lost my marbles and i cant remember where i put them
Re: NEW SPEAKER
Iv'e tried the Webers. Jensens, Eminence, .. So far the best sounding ones out of all of them to me were the Tonker Lites... Chris @ Eminence sent me a Neo that was pretty good sounding that went to Jack Pearson.. Chris said it was a Neo version of the EV-L..I think they made that special for Jack since it looked more like a neo from there PA speaker line...JD0x0 wrote:Apparently Weber learned how to do it "right" im not sure as i havent tried one yettalbany wrote:Much of the problems with Neo's has to do with the Gauss and the fields they generated.. If you notice I hear an uneven kind of breakup on the top end of the Neo's as well..Especially with an OD amp..you don't notice it standing off to the side but stand right in front of it and listen to the breakup quality say 3K and above..Arrgh!! Bugs me!!

Re: NEW SPEAKER
I used to think the Tonkerlites were the best of the NEO's. As opposed to the Jemsen's (never tried the Celestion's) Lately I've liked the 'lil Texas better because it handles OD and clean breakup better. Just today I swapped the TLite and Ltexas back and 4th 4 times in the same combo amp to get an absolutely identical test. The 'lil Texas won. The Tlite may have a slight edge for pristine cleans but not much.

Henry, You've made an amp for Joe Louis Walker!! He's one of my favorite guitar players - espcially the tones on the live album with '747' (Chorus: "....she took a 747, Greyhounds mooving much too slow"heisthl wrote:I used to think the Tonkerlites were the best of the NEO's.
