I'm seeing these pop up on Ebay for insane prices.
They are being touted as not Dumble inspired, but actual clones. (this was news to me, news I'm not sure is accurate)
I've read many accounts that vary wildly, so rather than post them, I'd like to start tabula rasa, and see what people here have to say.
What's the scoop on these?

Not sure about out-and-out clones, especially since they are PCB designs. And they don't do the usual trio of switches, at least not on the amps shown here.

Most of what a quick search gets me to is people describing the lead channel as ODS-like. Just the progression of ebay hyperbole is my guess.

Re: Electroplex Rocket 90 - who knows the scoop?
From the schematic I've seen of the 50 watt, Guitar Player review and the list of controls in the literature posted by Bear, the Electroplex is nothing like a Dumble at all. The clean is separate from the OD although they share the first stage. The clean has a Baxandall tone stack after the second stage and the OD is set up sort of like a Marshall with an extra gain stage and a cathode follower driven tone stack. Maybe the 90 watt was different, but the control layout suggests otherwise. There's a schematic somewhere on the Blue Guitar site.

Agreed, the design is nothing at all like a Dumble. The overdrive channel's sound, at least of the Rocket 30 I tried a long time ago, was simply beautiful and very Dumble-like.bluefireamps wrote:From the schematic I've seen of the 50 watt, Guitar Player review and the list of controls in the literature posted by Bear, the Electroplex is nothing like a Dumble at all. Gil, I thought you'd posted something similar in the past.
I saw your review on H-C, saying the 30 was very Dumbly. But it sounds like the guts are quite different. As are the controls. (He was selling a '90', so I suppose that one could be different, but again, the controls lead me to believe otherwise).

Well, the seller got all kinds of grief on the Ebay ad, for ludicrous pricing.
Lowered the price to an affordable

He actually holds back on Ebay, this is what he lists on H-C

ElectrOplex will ENGULF you in MESMERIING tone!!!
I am amazed when I play these amps, the time just flys by and before you know it, you have been playing an hour or more!

The "true documented ODS clone" is an out and out lie. And doesn't he think that someone willing to part with that kinda dough would just take him at his word??? and not do their homework?
