Haven't tried the warespeaker myself, but I just bought 4 x 80's Celection 12G65 - the real deal - on Ebay for a total of 355 USD. How about that ??

I would like to know if Bob and Gary have tested these after that last post. I was curious about how they sound compared to the Celestions as the WGS are much more reasonable.

Norm seemed to compare them to the originals. I don't think I'll have a chance to ever try the originals.

I would like to know if the WGS compare favorably to the reissues, which I seemed to miss in the last post that was referencd in this post.

I put one in my D'Lite 22 wide body combo, replacing a WGS lead 80.
It's warmer and less hard rock sounding and compares well with the Blue in my tweed Deluxe.

that's an interesting comparison but to my ears the 80 seems warmer and sweeter, while the 65 is harder and edgy...

I don't hear the 80 as cold or hard but more rock and "modern".
I think the 65's more milk chocolate to the 80's dark chocolate.
And the 80 is 4 or 5 dB more efficient.
Of course, ears and taste buds vary twixt humans.

In fact I felt the 80 darker and sweeter...
The 65 seems more articulate and on the bright side.
Am i wrong?

You can only be wrong if there's a right (which there ain't) and even then it wouldn't matter 'cause judging from your clips, you're a killer player.

Lead 80 and 65 reissue are two completely different beasts. 80 has an even response that reminds me an electro-voice, whereas the 65 has a very pronounced mid honk.

The 65 is also a very "inefficient" speaker, almost half the volume of the 80.
